Saying it ended on its own terms is subjective. To my understanding, Battlestar Galactica has been in danger of being canceled for some time. Sci Fi (or should we start calling it Syfy?) renewed it for a 4th season and the producers decided to end it rather than gamble on there being a 5th season. I'm sure they would've loved to keep going. In any case, it was a throwaway comment. Way to take it seriously... you sure showed me.

Anyway there is NOTHING wrong with Silent Hill going back to the start to not only symbolize a rebirth of the franchise but puts people in a familiar setting.
No, not necessarily, but you're assuming that's what Konami is doing. So I guess that's really what we're disagreeing on. Here's the bit that I'm hung up on: Konami, who has said on a number of occasions that Silent Hill is too mature for Nintendo's kids consoles, suddenly has a change of heart and brings Silent Hill to the Wii. Except there's a catch: it's a remake and it's also coming to PS2 and PSP. You're clearly siding with Konami here, but I won't, not with their track record on Nintendo hardware for the past, what, 13 years...
I'm curious why you're fighting this so hard though. While I've labeled Shattered Memories a remake (which isn't necessarily an insult), I've also praised Konami for going above and beyond a graphics update. I'm only pointing out my own preference. As a Silent Hill fan, I'd be much more interested in a brand new game and I just can't see why the same gameplay mechanics in Shattered Memories couldn't have been applied to a sequel. And yet, like I've said before, I'm still mildly interested in it.
I'm curious to see just how different from the original Shattered Memories is. The gameplay is certainly different and I like that
every locked door can be opened. It seems so minor, but I appreciate the attention to detail. There's a lot of potential to be had there. Also, if this game is designed to fit onto a UMD (Wii as lead platform or not), I wonder how big it can be. A UMD is like 1.8GB.
