Well as far as I can tell the 360 spin is the only trick. You can pick up a wrench and you transform into your bot form and glide of ramps.Once you grab the wrench you alternate between moving the wiimote back and forth.Once off the ramp there will be butterflys that you can grab. If you get some once you land the butterfly will give you stars.

Oh yeah, i forgot about that mechanic of the game. Not bad, i'm actually glad that its not overwhelming with tricks (outside of using those poles) since the controls would feel clumsy. I can't wait to try out the gliding moves, i think it would make it much easier to land on your opponents with this :D

Well trying to land on someone would be fun to try out. You would probably get lots of stars if you succeed.

How's the local multiplayer?

I play a lot of 2-player local Mario Kart Wii racing.  Even with 32 courses, some of the races are starting to get a bit stale.  I'm looking for something new.  Is this it?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

For those curious, the reason you can no longer use left or right to turbo is because those buttons are used for a different purpose in the Poker races.  I always used left on the dpad in ExciteTruck, so it took a few tries to get used to using up.

I loved ExciteTruck and got all medals in the main racing game.  I didn't get 100% in the challenges though.  So far in Excitebots, I've played through a couple of cups, one random online race and a few races against a friend online.  And I have to say I'm loving the game.

Got my copy today and if you were a fan of Excitetruck you will LOVE this game. It is like its predecessor but crammed full of wacky stunts, mini games, unlockables etc. Also the music has been improved over ExciteTruck.

With all of the positive impressions I've been seeing about this game, I might buy it anyway despite knowing I'm not going to like the controls.

Isn't that like saying that getting punched in the stomach is an improvement over getting punched in the face?

True. But I don't really miss the custom MP3 soundtrack so that has to be a plus. Also in regards to controls, I usually HATE tilt controls but ExciteBots and Truck work perfectly with them. The game is designed around them and they never feel like they are holding you back.

It isn't tilt controls that I have a problem with, it's that the button placement when using the wheel feels very awkward (and is worse without wheel). The only way I wouldn't have a problem is if the game did not use any buttons, but that would be a pretty boring game as all you'd have to do is steer.

Hmm I actually have no problems with the button placement. It seems pretty intuitive. Then again I don't use the wheel.

Online for this game is flawless, just played a couple of random matches.

I've gotten used to using a different part of the D Pad for boosting, though sometimes I still get hung up and accidentally hit right.

As for the main game, I'm still enjoying it and overall it seems very fresh. Though similar at its core to Excite Truck, Excitebots feels very different overall. Obviously, there is far more personality and the variety of new ways to win stars throughout the race makes for a huge divide. When you think about it, it makes sense why Monster and Nintendo took the route they did with the IP. There wasn't much more they could do with an Excite Truck 2 other than make more levels and spiff up everything else that was there before. With Excitebots, they were able to really open things up and come up with some really inventive stuff. Any fans of Excite Truck out there should definitely pick this one up.
