I think there are instances in Rock Band where they've added a bass part to a song that didn't have one.

Yeah, I'm almost 100% sure that is there is no bass part to Capital G and they just mapped it for some of the keyboards.

I'm positive they add bass parts to certain songs that don't have them because 95% of people playing the game won't know the difference. As long as it sounds decent the majority of people just won't care.

Looks like it does suffer the same fate as RB2 in terms of singles only. Oh well, only a moderate annoyance. I'm happy with DLC nonetheless.

Almost up to par - 360 and PS3 have the full Death Magnetic album, Wii only has Cyanide, My Apocalypse, and Broken, Beaten & Scarred. The good news, however, is those songs are fucking awesome. I played the Wii version a little, and it's a definite improvement over GH3. The graphics are improved a lot (as is the sound!), though Ozzy and Zakk Wylde look like they were made with the character creator. Mii Freestyle mode is pretty awesome, though I only played the guitar on it. I'll try the drums in a little bit. I have to give the edge to the 360 version though, because the Wii version stutters at 30FPS (at best), even though graphics don't really matter in GH/RB games, it can be annoying when you're a spectator.

yeah, the animations on Ozzy's mouth really bothers me. Hendrix's and Sting's models look absolutely fantastic, though. I'm happy to hear good stuff on this.

Probably. I gave the game to my brother before I ever tried out drum Mii Freestyle, guess I'll try it next time I go to my mom's house. I hate to say it though, but aside from a few absolute killer tracks (Crazy Train, Mr. Crowley, Hot for Teacher...all the Metallica stuff), the setlist is pretty crappy.

I don't want that to sound like an attack on you, but looking at the set list as is (no DLC) i can see a lot of songs that i'll enjoy playing across all instruments.

Van Halen isn't metal. There's other great stuff like Beautiful Disaster, Purple Haze, The Wind Cries Mary, Stillborn, and a few others, but then there's boring stuff like Up Around the Bend (terrible choice for a CCR song), No Sleep Till Brooklyn, Shiver, Freak on a Leash, and everything by Tool. It seems like they were trying to make up for the metal fest that was GH3, and rip off half of the Rock Band 2 setlist at the same time, when you look at the full list.

The metal fest wasn't really fun to me GH3. I like metallica, but One is a chore to play. So is reign in blood. The very large classic rock selection is win in my book. Sure there's some modern stuff i'm not going to dig, but it's a helluva lot better than the nearly 1/4 of metal selection that RB2 has. And I don't give a crap if it's easier. fun>frustration.

Besides, the announced DLC is giving a big boost to the already strong set list.

ditto, cept there there are some more modern bands i wouldnt mind playing to (ie some more Bloc Party dammit!)

i still think its funny that even though i enjoy some of the metal selection in GH3, they were all annoying to play (much easier AND fun on a real guitar) and the only one i did really enjoy was the Tenacious D song which (to me anyway) is a satire on the genre..

If you can use the "slider" from the GHWT guitar on GH3 pull-offs and hammer-ons, then I think I'll finally beat Mosh 1 on Raining Blood again (Reign in Blood is the album) - I passed it once and then my hand slipped and I failed.

The Metal (Tenacious D) is awesome. I always play it when I see demos at Best Buy, usually setting the high score for the day.
