You can get 2GB SD cards for like $5 now, so even 10 of them would cost less than the 360's 20GB HDD. I think Nintendo's storage solution is going to be an updated driver for the SD slot that supports SDHC.

Yeah, but why would I spend more money on extra SD cards (I have one already) when I already have 120GBs available to use.

I'm inclined to get the Wii version, but I'm just hoping that Nintendo's supposed workings on a better solution to our storage needs is announced in the near future, heck even if I get GHWT in 2009 for the Wii I will be happy.

Where? Point me in the direction of those 5 dollar SD cards.  I can only find then for like 20 bucks.

I endorse that site fully - it's free shipping on nearly everything and the prices are great. Plus, that microSD card is a Japan-made Kingston one.

The only problem is that they take 2-3 weeks to ship.

Is there a way to send others your music studio creations without going through Activision's service?  (e.g. Can you save them to an SD card and upload them to the Internet?)  If so, it seems like a pretty easy way to share copyrighted music with the world.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

The same thing occurred to me.  In fact, that seems so well within the realm of technical possibility that I'm sure there will be some sort of lockdown on it.  Activision will only be able to avoid copyright related lawsuits by completely controlling the system of exchange.  However, I also fully expect hacks to become available within days, if not hours.  :)

Something else that recently occurred to me is the possibility of importing MIDI sequences from a computer into the GH music editor.  SD cards would make that pretty simple to do on the Wii.  Neversoft has a similar idea, but apparently didn't come up with it in time to put it on the disc.  I sincerely hope Vicarious Visions is able to cram it in the Wii version, since patching isn't an option for them.

Incidentally, has there been any official word on whether GH Tunes will be cross-platform?

There aren't that many full albums I would want for Guitar Hero.  I want a fair amount of variety and having album tracks that don't really stand out eating up space would bug me.  I really hope that the DLC is song-by-song.  Having to buy in packs sucks.  If I just want one song I just want one song so let me buy that.

It doesn't help that some bands like Rush have about two or three songs I really like and I can't stand anything else, even if it's a big radio hit.  Pick and choose is where it's at.

My wishlist would be mostly Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.  They're not my absolute favourite bands but I like them a lot and they're just perfecto for Guitar Hero.  Imagine playing Rime of the Ancient Mariner!  That would be such a challenge for length alone.

I'd really dig some Cure.  Have they been in any of these games yet?  And I'd love Peter Gabriel era Genesis but those songs are long, not very mainstream friendly, and have a lot of keyboards which is kind of a waste since no keyboard instrument exists for the game.  But playing the solo in The Musical Box would just be nuts.  Too bad when people think of Genesis they often think of Phil Collins being a big wuss.  Genesis' album Nursery Cryme is one I would download the whole thing for.

And of course there's Led Zeppelin.  It will be an event if they ever come on board.  Achilles' Last Stand!  Yeah I pretty much want as many epic 7 minute+ songs you can throw at me.

^Oh, don't worry.  You can buy individual songs.

I wish they would let you have like a grab bag of sorts, where you pick the songs you want to buy in track packs.

Damn, the UK peeps are getting a free bass when the pre-order the entire band kit.  Of course the bass will be the GH3 guitar, but it will still be a great deal.

Also, apparently World Tour is set for an early Nov release for you guys.

Ian just made me happy.

I'm not sure how big a fan you are, but even if you like only their mainstream songs, theres still a good collection of songs that would be fun to play as a full band (maybe not so much for a soloist though..)

Well I'll be honest - I only own Staring at the Sea and Galore so that would make me a more casual fan.  Though you don't exactly hear Jumping Someone Else's Train on the radio.  I saw them play in Vancouver earlier this year and it was easily one of the best shows I've ever seen.  And I saw Iron Maiden about a week later and as awesome as that show was it still didn't top the Cure.  I agree that they're better for a full band but that's like the point now.

Though I've just realized something.  I have only two remotes!  I'm going to need at least three to have the whole band going!  Good thing I thought of this now or it would look super dumb to invite everyone over first.

dug up the live version of "Purple Haze" that's going to used in World Tour.

Pretty awesome stuff. It's heavier than most metal in my opinion.

Wow, the Wii version will have the same and more (except for the graphical areas) although DLC with SD Cards is too mixed up.. I wonder what storage device can be better than a HD..

Well.. I wouldn't be too satisfied with better SD cards as a solution. Nintendo would look bad, that their plannings of fixing the memory problems end up to be releasing something that simple (after all this time), and we shouldn't have to necessarily pay for extra memory anyway so I expect something good.

ya know.. its funny i dont have that compilation. I got into them when alot of bands i liked at the time would cite The Cure as a big influence on them, so i decided to check them out and of course the easiest way to do that is a greatest hits. Luckily for me the one i picked was their "Greatest Hits" which turns out is compiled by Robert Smith himself, and not just they're chart toppers. I thought it was amazing how the sound grows by the end of the cd and i was hooked.
I now own all their studio albums to date, a few singles (for the b-sides), a 4 disc box set of nothing but b-sides (negating the damn singles i bought prior), some Deluxe Editions of their studio albums (with bonus disc containing even more demos/b-sides), and all the singles for their upcoming 13th studip album, oh and like 3 dvds lol. What i dont have is the compilation you have, or their live albums. So yeah, i'm pretty hardcore when it comes to the Cure (as if my username wasn't enough).

Ian you bring up a good song that would work in a game like GH. Jumping someone elses train is one of the best examples of their early post-punk sound. There are good parts for 4 players, as well as a great track for someone to play solo with whichever instrument they choose. Even something like Boys Dont Cry would be fun to play, but my view might be pretty biased. I'd be the one to tell you that Lullabye would be a phenomonal track to rock out to, but everyone here would disagree.

as for needing 3 controllers..yikes! i gotta get a third. This might give me an excuse to pick up Wiiplay... i got my second controller before that bundle came out, and ive never needed a 3rd controller since i dont have many friends coming over to play video games these days, its usually just me and my gf. I should be fine with the two i have for now, but if swapping controllers gets to be a pain, i'll just get Wiiplay for the controller, and give the disc to my gf.

The Cure were at their utmost best during  the so-called trilogy of Disintegration, Pornography, and Bloodflowers. Plenty of those radio hits are still great tunes though.

I'd really like to see Killing an Arab make in onto a tracklist sometime... I fear people would see it as being politically incorrect however, despite its more obvious basis on Camus' nihilistic novel, The Stranger.

agreed, though there are plenty of songs off the other albums that arent necessarily hits that would be amazing to play. Imagine "The Kiss," Sinking," "The upstairs room, or "Cut"

Prior to going to the concert I had heard that due to controversy Robert Smith would either sing "Kissing an Arab" or not play the song at all.  Note that song is also not on the Greatest Hits EasyCure mentioned.  But they played it at the show with the "killing" lyrics intact.  Just one of the many little things that went right that night that made it a memorable show.  They did THREE encores and I think Killing an Arab was during one of them.  The encores were more the early post-punk stuff.
