Since E3 is over and most of the announcements have been made I decided to go through GameStop's Coming Soon list to see what was coming for the rest of the year. I found 25 games that I would consider purchasing coming out between now and the end of the year, which is about the same as what I had at this time last year, maybe even a bit more, which is impressive considering how many Nintendo releases were on the list last year and only 3 on there this year.

Surely Nintendo has some surprises planned for the holiday season. If they don't, that would be a major change from every other year. There's still 5 months left in the year, so there's bound to be some announcements in the coming months.

They'll have another post-E3 media summit, like the years before.

They had a kick-ass E3 2006 (preemptive strike on the hardcore) and still rolled out a media briefing the following September.

I don't know, I doubt that there will be a surprise game. Some surprise announcements, maybe, but I really see this fall as an opening for third parties to make a mark: THQ is making a significant move with de Blob and Deadly Creatures, and the other publishers really need to get their Wii version of multiplatform games like Quamtum of Solace, Sonic, Star Wars and Rock Band 2 out to market. This could be a fall season with a lot of games that have only been hyped to a medium level (why oh why is no one hyped for monster lab?).

Well, yeah. I'm the second to last post on that thread. &P

I just get the sense that a lot of interesting upcoming Wii titles are being ignored.

I guess it's a good time for gamers that like a wide variety of videogames, yet we aren't that many to make a difference.

The rest of the year seems to be shaping up better than we thought, with PAX impressions indicating Wii Music may be significantly better than E3 made it seem and another core game from Nintendo in the form of Disaster.

I own all those games but Power Tennis, and I'm hoping a new version of that game comes out for Wii... hmm

I'm really curious as to how they're going to make the controls on the first two primes work.  consider the lack of c-stick/2nd analog and you needed that to switch visors/beams (can't remember which specifically).

Maybe they will be stackable like in MP3 and Super Metroid or maybe there will be classic controller support.

they'll probably do something similar to they way Prime 3 had you switch visors. Perhaps take that same design and keep Visors on top, Beams on bottom..?

I dunno, the classic controller would be a step down from the gamecube controller, IMO.  I think you might just have to cycle through them via left/right on the d-pad.

That and it kinda defeats the point of porting them to wii without taking advantage of IR controls
