To be fair though the sonic game on N-Gage was just a crappy port of the GBA game. (I think unless they made a second one).

True, but I expect there was already a Sonic game for the Phantom planned.

Yeah it was a great short film. Too bad it didn't make the top 10 finalists.

The video proves the staying power Punch Out has. Even if Mac was even more silent and, dare I say, generic than the rest of the Nintendo crew he definitely has a presence. I mean, as a kid I was always amazed at how this little guy could face and defeat these freaky giants. He's perhaps one of Nintendo's biggest underdogs.

So once again its very unfair that Nintendo has ignored the fame this one character has, especially in a game that basically celebrates everything great and fun about Nintendo :\ .

I mean anyway why would I want a bit character like Aragorn when I could get the main character Sam with his trusty pony Bill? :P

What?  How does a fan vid prove something has "staying power"?  Does that mean I could go make a Terranigma vid and it'd prove the game has staying power?

Bill Final Smash all the way man.  Coupled with an Apple Barrage.  This would also allow the Eye to be in the background of a level.

well, I have very fond memories of Punch Out, it was too hard for me in that time, but my cousin beated everyone at the end, with all of us, the other cousins watching it, great times. However, I really wouldn't like to see Little Mac as a playable character, he basically just punchs and thats it, it would be a wasted opportunity to include someone with more variety... like...

TINGLE!

ok, I know it won't happen, but I hope at least Olimar makes it.

I always wonder about characters with size issues. For instance, Snake and Samus are people size, Mario is a shorty, and Pikachu and Kirby are small. But, Olimar is not much bigger than a bottle cap, and Ridley is freaking huge. Characters like that would have to be seriously resized.

Not really, no...If Pikachu was set at his "real size," he could fit perched on Link's shoulder...Size just doesn't really matter in the Smash world...

The characters aren't supposed to be 100% accurate to their official series counterparts.  Olimar and Ridley can both be easily resized to fit since resizing them doesn't affect them one bit.  Olimar would still be able to throw his Pikmin and punch you and Ridley would still be able to shoot fireballs and swing his tail.

Plus according to Kirby's profile in Melee he's only supposed to be 8 INCHES tall, yet in the game he's the same height as Mario.  This shows that size doesn't matter and isn't going to be a factor for stopping certain characters from appearing.

One of Ridley's main advantages is precisely his size, not as much as Kraid, but it's still important. I really wouldn't like Sakurai to weaken him to fit with the rest, I'll rather have an assist trophy with a giant ridley attacking everyone, or a stage like Kraid had in Melee, is the only thing that could do him justice.

The video I posted is just one of the many Punch-out tribute and parody videos you'll find on sites like You Tube, Newgrounds and many more. Its true that one fan video doesn't prove that a game has a loyal, popular following, but when something  like Punch-out has MANY tribute and parody videos under its belt its hard to deny that it left an everlasting impression on a whole generation of gamers. Hell, Punch-out has even been the basis of other parody videos like this Michael Jackson parody video.

Again, its very weird that Nintendo has downright ignored Punch-Out's appearance in SSB, a game that supposedly celebrates everything Nintendo.

Not really, Ridley's size has varied with most of the Metroid games and has never played a huge factor.  When fighting Ridley it's all about him shotting fireballs and using physical attacks, which he can easily do resized.

Plus the Ridly fight that's considered the best by a lot of fans is his fight in Super Metroid because of how tough he was in that game.

As you can clearly see, in Super Metroid he wasn't that big compared to Samus yet that's considered the toughest Ridley fight.  Which shows his size isn't that important to him and he can easily be a strong fighter if he's about the same size as Bowser is in Brawl.

I never believed that Olimar's size is accurately portrayed by the Pikmin games treasure.

The reason being is that the game is supposed to be abstract...and what better way to represent treasure found in a big world gardening than human trinkets.

That is just how I saw it...but I may just be odd.

I remember that battle taking no more than a couple of minutes.... and being fairly easy.  He carried me around and allowed me to pump missiles straight into his chest.  Kraid was harder.

Toughest Ridley boss: Prime on Hard Mode. You can't even wavebuster him anymore. Boooo!

Ridley should be a boss in Adventure Mode. I don't see how he'd work as a playable character. He can fly (the second stage of Meta-Ridley doesn't count). They might be able to cheat by changing his size, but taking away flight from his character is definitely pushing it way too far.
