Wow, I remember staying up all night before the GC launch and watching the meteor showers...

Cool stuff...

I got that from NintendoWiiFanboy.com.  Apparently the Leonid meteors are excited about the Wii that they're gonna burn up with anticipation.  Or from friction in the atmosphere.

The expected time of peak activity is 11:45 p.m. EST on the night of Nov. 18. In US, the shower will only be visible on the east coast, in the eastern sky.

Looks like you New Yorkers will have something to watch during your midnight launch line-up.  Or if you're still camping out anyway.  150 Leonids streaking across the sky in an hour!  Whoa.  That could be intense.

Incidentally... IIRC, there was a meteor shower the night/day of the Gamecube launch...

Edit: Heh, I missed smash's post... well I guess there definately was one.

Sony plans to bombard the earth with interstellar garbage to disrupt Nintendo's last minute Wii launch shipments? This has gotten dirty.

Speaking of deliveries, they're starting to happen. Stores are beginning to get their stock.

Hope y'all have a backup plan in case some stores break the date Friday-ish.

Less than five days.  Less than the number of digits on one hand.  Wow, that's close.

For people that have been waiting for the "Revolution" since May 2004 (which was half a generation ago, 2.5 years, or approximately 913 days) we're now in the last 0.5% (or so) of our wait!

I'll be in the stores on Friday trying to get a couple of PS3s, so date-breaking shouldn't affect me much.  I don't expect to see much of that happening around here anyway.

This is like torture. I can't sleep, I can't focus at school or work lol. Nov 19, please come sooner. If I am not able to snag a system at launch after camping for 4 hours I will ; ; /cry. Most stores supposedly restock every 3 days though right?

My favorite band in the whole world is playing a show in my town on Nov. 18th, and I don't have a pre-order.  The show is at 6, and they're the second band playing...

I'm hoping to god that I get to Walmart in time.

You'll make it. Do you know why? Because you'll have 104 octane desperation fueling you. Possession of Wii must come to pass!

I don't know of any midnight launches in my area, so I'm gonna get up early on Sunday and sit outside Target. I want me a $20 Gift card for buying 3 games!

I'm kind of in the same situation.  My university(George Mason University) is playing against Wichita in basketball Saturday at 4:00(look for me on ESPN2).  I'm gonna be decked out in facepaint.  Then, right when the game is over, THE RACE IS ON, 20 minutes to the nearest 24/7 walmart.

I know, right?  It's a crappy situation to be in for sure.  This is a band that I like enough to have driven 6.5 hours to Milwaukee to see play a 45 minute set earlier in the year.  Now they're playing a show right in my town, so there's no way I can pass it up.

I figure the show starts at 6, the first band will probably get done around 7, which means Bishop Allen (the band I'm going to see) should get done around 8.  I'm gonna head to Walmart, hopefully get there by 8:30.  It might be too late, but I'm reading that Wal Mart will be getting over 50 Wii units in stock.  We'll see.  If I'm too late, then I will be at the non 24 hour Walmart by 5:30 the next morning.
