Oh, yeah, the "reasons to own a Wii".  I remember thinking 100 would be too many, so I was going to make 50.  I'm too lazy to post every day.  Not sure how I was going to do that, but I remember missing the 50 day mark so I gave up on it, kinda.  Maybe we'll try for 25?  We're almost there already, whoa!

I had a dream about the Wii last night, I got so excited that I was about to play it, and it wouldn't turn on...

I punted it against the wall, it broke open, and there was $100 stuck to the circuit board. Then I woke up.

Don't know what that's supposed to mean, but I was pretty pissed I couldn't play.

i was demonstrating my wii for my family last night. it worked just fine, but the wiimot was about twice as long as the actual mold and had a full set of buttons to serve as a universal tv/dvd/vcr remote
I'll shut up now...

I had my usual dream last night. Hope to see you again tonight, Miss Gellar.

Three weeks really isn't that long of a time to wait for something, but when you're constantly re-evaluating how many hours, minutes, seconds there are left, it sure does seem like it.

This stems from my childhood, actually...

We were always so dirt poor that buying a game happened maybe twice a year and each game received careful screening from my mother to make sure it wouldn't turn me into a serial killer and I haven't become one yet (it's a bad career move...for now).

Thus, when I came of the age and money where I could finally buy my OWN games, it was like the best empowerment high in the world, only recently winding down where I no longer look forward to games with the same ravenous enthusiasm I once did.

I blame this on boredom with games these days. Nothing feels new and fun anymore, it seems, which is why I'm looking forward to the Wii, but at the same time, I don't have the same level of anticipation I once did.

It might be because I'm trying other things in my life which don't involve gaming right now, but the part of me which used to barely contain the excitement of bringing a new game home has long since been quieted.

But I'm glad of that because I hate the materialism involved in so readily looking forward to the time we can purchase an inanimate object. I suppose that, in perspective, we're purchasing virtual adventures made by other people, but my point remains: in the end, it's just another escape.
"OK, first we need someone to complain about something trivial. Golden or S_B should do. Then we get someone to defend the game, like Bill or Mashiro. Finally add some Unclebob or Pro666 randomness and the thread should go to hell right away." -Pap64

Gaming (in general) is quite similiar to arm wrestling, thumb wars, board games, darts, sports, and the like.  It's a test of skill.  Hand-to-eye coordination, proper memorization of sequences, and everynow and then, pure intuition.

The Wii reinforces this point even further with its unique control system, which provides ample opportunity to prove that, "you can do something better than the other guy", and have fun at the same time as well.

RPG's, however, are among the many game types that don't qualify in this category of gaming and truly are a means of escape.

Atleast in my oppinion.

RPGs are merely a form of "I can beat you" except playing against a computer that we can always beat with enough repeptitive level grinding and pressing X to attack.

A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

Edfishy: Nah, in RPGs it is just strategy, not reflexes, that you are "doing better." Although, as Kairon pointed out, you are usually free to ignore strategy and level-grind instead.

Indeed.  Twenty days.

Though really, it's 19 days and some hours.  Can you believe it?  It's a two digit number with a 1 in front of it.  o_0  Getting there!

So close, and yet so far.

It's a little scary to think that in 10 days and 13 hours and 13 mins we'll have a chance to own a Wii.

The anxiety is threatening to stop my heart, it's so overwhelming.
