Hey guys, I just bought my GC last night and am very glad I did.  I was really surprised at how diverse the selection of games were at my retailer.  I also own a PS2 and have become rather bored with it.  As you can see, there are some old guys out here who still buy Nintendo

I did have one question.  I heard that Sega isn't publishing their sports titles on GC anymore.  Is EA sports still with us?  If anyone has heard, I would like to know.  Thanks and I look forward to talking with you often.

EA Sports is still with us for the most stuff; only the most obscure sports titles might not make the cut. In any case, you have a PS2, so you don't need to worry about sports. In fact, with the GC's pissant-tiny memory cards, you should probably stick with the PS2 version, unless you  know you're going to get the big third-party cards.

Hey all.

Hey welcome to PGC, and I hope your happy with your choice of the Gamecube.  Now I know your worried about EA as well as I am...if EA leaves I leave, I can't stand to be without my sports.  Anyway im pretty sure they didn't cancel the games just yet....so stayed tuned to the latest news.

Ehh, thats probably not true. I know plenty of "over 20 yr olds" who still play games. I dont think the love of games will ever leave ya. Especially if you're a Nintendo fan.

Welcome to PCG!  Well, there are still many of us "kids at heart" that still love Nintendo.

Just to let everyone know, EA is not ceasing all GCN development, they are just scaling it down.  They are probably just getting rid of all the franchises that flopped.  EA knows that there is still a sports market on all 3 consoles so they will support them.  This goes for all these devs that are "leaving" the GCN.  They are just scaling down.  The only problem with this is that we may miss some of the "sleeper hits", otherwise, it means less crap to occupy the shelf space.  I also have a PS2 and it does have its fair share of awesome games, but there are a lot of crappy titles on the retail shelves.

Welcome ! I'm a 26 y/o gamer, married with 2 kids and I still play videogames. Probabaly for 2 or 3 more console generations at least. I actually can't even wait until my kids are a bit older (2 y/o and 3y/o) to beat the crap out of them playing games. The oldest one (3 y/o) is already playing Burnout accelerating and turning prettty good.
Don't worry about EA leaving us w/out sports games. The problem with the GameCube is that there are NOT enough sports games fans to support 2 major franchises but since Sega Sports is gone, EA will see more sales/profit in GameCube since they have no competition and they wil NOT leave.

PS : friggin cool !!! While typing this post I've seen for 1st time the Zelda:WW commercial Q

I have'nt heard anything about E.A. leaving GAMECUBE. As a matter of fact, according to NINTINDOJO.COM E.A. just announced a new F1 racing game for the CUBE. Now I dont know if your into racing games but i figure any new announcement is a good announcement. Besides with SEGA sports pulling out E.A. really has no competiton.

I just turned 39 on 2/6 and i still play games, why PICK an age to stop playing? In my opinion your never too old, so if you still enjoy playing why stop.

Well when I was in grade school and high school we were playing the Genesis and Super NES.  In fact, my 2 best friends from high school still play games and we get together about once a month to do just that.  Once it's in your blood it never leaves I guess.  We have a great time still.  I honestly think that game companies know that their demographic is getting older and they are making games accordingly.  I think Nintendo sees it as well.  Again, I was surprised at the number of "M" rated games.  It's a good variety.

Toy, I know what you mean.  Age is just a number and you do what you enjoy.  For me it's games.  I get as excited about a new title I want today, as I did when I was 16.  I was struggling with whether to buy one for awhile, but I know the machine has a great record for reliability and the games are such that anyone from 8 to whatever will find something fun.  Also, I could care less who is number one in sales or whatever that argument is about.  I will have fun while someone else worries about that

LOL, maybe i hold WAY too much confidence in the big N, but I'm still thinkin' that they will pull out a new franchise or something that may raise one of your eyebrows, or maybe even both. They are working on new stuff, i do believe...

Oh man! Just like me. I'm 26 with a 2 year old girl. I love playing games. I can stay up later than my wife and kid so I play into the wee hours nonstop (can't wait till I can play with others online!). And I can't wait for my daughter to be old enough so we can play together. My wife likes some games but is very picky so I can't play many with her.

But yeah, at 26, the GC is the only console I own and I'll always have one. I keep telling my wife that when I'm old I won't mind if I'm put in a retirement home so long as I have a few things: movies to watch, computer, and the latest Nintendo console. Play on!

Yeah man, that is definately not true.  I am 20 now, and turn 21 in a few months.  If you go to college you wont stop playing games at least until you graduate.  Videogames are a large part of college.  Videogames, drinking, and women.

And since when is there an age limit to having fun?

I agree, why should their be an age to stop gaming, especially with you 20-30 year olds that grew up with the beggining of videogaming.
Im only 16 so its hard to judge, but how can you be too old for videogaming, thats like telling your parents they shouldnt be watching XXX
(triple x the movie) because they arent targeted by it ?

Ill stop playing videogames the day its not fun anymore, but with the fun constantly increasing especially on GCN, why ever stop?

I am 29.  I've been playing video games for 22 years, and it doesn't go away if you grow up with it.  You just have to manage your time better.

That sums it up perfectly.

Being in college I am constantly bombarded by truckloads of homework, research papers, and woman hunting.  You may have more on your plate but you will always find some time to play some madden with friends or get in some quality single player time.

Lets just say that in college you learn to use all 24 hours of the day.

Hey new GCN owner(s), welcome to the forums!  I'm 26, and it just seems like videogames become a lot more accessible when you're making more and more money.  I'm a member of the NES-late-80's generation that was raised on RC Pro-Am, Rad Racer, Mike Tyson's Punchout, Super Mario Bros. 1-3, and the Ninja Gaiden trilogy.  Don't "front" on the old age, you get to see gaming, especially Nintendo games, evolve to innovate and not duplicate.

I hope to be playing video games until I'm a damn grandpa.    Just not quite as much.  Hehe.
