I'll throw my hand into the mix. It's not as involved as the others, and I doubt that much will be unveiled, or if these really qualify as predictions, but this is what I'd like:

Controller
- Gyros
- Analog shoulder buttons are replaced by analog trigger buttons on the bottom. Think N64's Z-trigger, but with two of them. (these together make interesting weapon targetting, no?)

Nice but not likely:
- Controllers are wifi enabled and programmable

Online:
- "Xbox Live Killer" - Integrates gamers better with unique options and content.
- Not just matchmaking, but a method of marketing.
- Access to simple tetris-style and yahoo-style games for 'pick up and play' gamers.

Nice but not likely:
- Optional online game saves so your stuff always goes with you
"wow."

isn't it still speculation at this point that anything special will be shown at TGS? i mean my hopes are high and everything, but unless they have some secret plan to release the N5 (i refuse to call it revolution until nintendo delivers one) before xmas why would they show off their 'super neat-o controller' so soon?

What with all the 6 face button hate?  You guys not like fighting games?

I figure they need it for the N64 games.  The c-stick won't work because you can't push multiple "buttons" at the same time.

What's with YOUR blind pessimism?

Ninty doesn't need more face buttons than Sony or MS...If they absolutely need to have more buttons they can include triggers...

6 face buttons would be cool in my book, and I can't think of a way to get around it unless you have virtual button or a customizable controller.

You know what would be wild? an arcade style joystick kind of like the neogeo controllers but with two rows of four buttons, an analog arcade joystick, and a trackball to rest your right thumb on.

Sans the trackball, my money is on something like that. Going back to the days of an arcade stick would be so left field....

I still think customizeable controllers would be interesting. Like those LCD keyboards they have that you can change.

I've been saying customizable controllers went against Nintendo's plan to simplify for so long...and then in a recent interview I think Miyamoto said that they AREN'T planning to simplify the controller, he was just commenting on how they can be scary for people.

Having said that, I now turn my back on months of posts and say that the controller WILL be customizable, but the customization will mostly be done by the software - gamers will only control the customization if the game they're playing chooses to let them.
That's my opinion, not yours.

i think since all three consoles have usb ports you should be able to use any usb gaming peripheral with them via software update. buy your favorite arcade stick setup and just plug it in, why not?   anybody? why NOT? huh? yeah. beeatches.....

IF the controller is actually revealed...

In:

gyroscopes
some sort of advanced feedback/rumble
microphone or headset connector
scroll wheel
regular shoulder's similar to Gamecube's
return of the z-trigger but with 2
6 face buttons (can't see how N64 would play without it...at least not well)

Out:

2 peice
touchscreen
other nonsense like holograms, headset, etc.

Possibly:

squeezable areas
hot/cold areas

"It's too damn complicated. Nintendo says they want to make things easier for people to adapt to. Having two halves (and thus creating a previously unthinkable problem of losing part of a controller) is going to scare people away more than pretty much anything. Longtime gamers will probably be wary of it let alone newcombers.

Do you really want to wave your arms everywhere to execute something that in the past was a simple button press? Physical fatigue is something you normally avoid by playing games."

I swear to God Ian, sometimes you are so closed minded. Just cuase YOU think it'll be hard to get a hang of, doesn't mean it will be. Who are you to say what is and what isn't?

Miyamoto said that he wanted a controller that was easy to adapt to, but he also said he wanted the controller to provide functionality. He gave SMS as an example of a game that was easy to adapt to yet used every single button, and therefore provided functionality. So obviously he wasn't talking about the cosmetics of the controller (cosmetics meaning how many buttons and so forth were on the controller). Instead he was talking about the controllers ease of use. The ease of use is what won't scare people away. Just look at the DS. It is a perfect example of this. It has 6 buttons, a d-pad, two-screens, and a touchscreen. You would agree it looks really complicated? Well those people who play Nintendogs (i'm talking directly about non-gamers) aren't scared away by such a complicated (looking) system because it is so easy to use. This ease of use is Nintendo's philosopy.

I think controllers today are only scary because they seem so abstract. It's hard for people to interact on a level they'd like to when the whole controller idea seems so weird and complex to them. People feel more at "home" when they use a racing wheel to control a car; or they use a flight stick to land an airplane.

A two-part gyration controller could be the first step to a controller that can adapt to many different situations. It can be the flight stick, the steering wheel, the boxing gloves, the pair of guns, the fishing rod, the hammer, the bow and arrow, the putter, etc. etc. This type of realistic interaction automatically means ease of use. It's that simple, it's Nintendogs simple. Now, it may not cover every area of gaming, but it does a pretty damn good job for something that can't morph into something else.

Think about Nintendo's philosophy for a moment. You'd agree that those DS games, that only use the touchscreen as the means for control, are easy to use. You'd also agree that those same games are the ones that non-gamers would most likely like. Well I got a question for you....what would make gyration so different? Gyration is very precise, to the point where you may have to turn down the sensitivity. So no, you won't be flailing your arms everywhere.

You need to open your mind to the possibilities and it's theoritical ease of use.

Apart from being able to control things like airplanes with ease, the thing that excites me about gyros is that it could give you pc-like disembodied hand control. Imagine a myst-like point and click that is controlled entirely with a gyro and the a button. Or a complex RTS where you can navigate complex menus, fiddle with your troops, etc with ease.

Or, imagine a 3rd person adventure game where - instead of fiddling with an annoying camera - you simply point at what you want to focus on with the gyro control, and an intellegint camera automagically gives you the best view possible.

The possiblities are endless.

Seeing as this fits in with "last minute rev predicts", here is an interesting blog (the same one that shows a TGS countdown on top): >HERE<

I've found this blog to be quite interesting (note: I didn't say it's all true  In his last post he sums up some of the info he's posted on his blog and says what he believes Nintendo has in store for us.  A pretty good read.
