There were just too many variables for most people to have a chance to really play/enjoy FFCC.

1) Cube Owner who likes RPGs
2) Has friends with GBAs
3) Friends must also like RPGs
4) Friends either must have cables or Cube owner is willing to drop an extra $30-$40 on cables.

Unfortunately, as much as I love RPGs, the opportunity was just never there for me...

The sad part of the whole thing is how much I wanted Square-Enix (OK... mostly Enix) to get back into Nintendo development... then the only Cube offering was something I never got a chance to see... at least I got FFTA, so it wasn't a total loss

Wow. I especially love that the GameCube is outselling the 360. Software:

Amazing week for Nintendo! 8 of the Top 10 are DS games, 11 of the Top 20 are DS games, and 13 of the Top 20 are Nintendo games.

EDIT: PEOPLE SHOULD STAY ON TOPIC

Mario and BlackNMild2k1 have already posted these numbers on the previous page. The also list which game is which.

Even back in the day it was easy to pick up cables for cheap. Used from GameStop/EB, new/used from eBay, or packed in with the games themself. If you wanted to play the game there were multiple ways to get the cables without paying $15 a pop.

Pick the game up, honestly, its quite fun even in single player. Perhaps even more fun, you don't have friends that always want to skip cut sceens and you can enjoy the art work and music at a much more leasurly pace. Granted you won't be able to pull off, say, Blizzaga +2 in single player. It's pretty hard to pull it off, for practical use, in multiplayer anyway. My friends and I can do it on a single monster, or for practice, but against bosses? Forget it, to much stuff smacking you around. If your lucky though, I believe you can pull off *aga +1 with the moogles help.

Er...but aren't GBA sales more than four times that of GCN sales?
Yeah, but I meant that not many people could get together with a GCN AND 3 GBAs AND 3 link cables..instead of, say, 3 other controllers.. the restrictions that FFCC placed on the player were too much.

I doubt the DS can keep going this strong for very long...because in about 6 months the entire population of Japan will have one! Keep in mind I have no idea how many people live in Japan, and I'm an idiot. Seriously DS will be up by like 10 million over PSP if it stays this way for about 6 more months though, maybe in less time.
