I'm part of the 30 yr old crowd too that plays Nintendo all the time. Actually, I'm exactly 30, married with a 10 yr old daughter that is almost as obsessed as me, although not quite!

My first console was a Colecovision with an Atari 2600 adapter. In '87 my parents bought me an NES for Christmas, in '91 I bought the SNES, in '96 I bought the N64 on launch day, and I was at Walmart at midnight to pick up my GC when it released. Zelda: Wind Waker was the 20th GC game I have bought. The GC is the only current generation console I have and really, I don't need any more. I play it every day and still don't have enough time to complete all my games. Plus, there are games out that I still want to get.

As long as Nintendo keeps making consoles, I'll be buying them. There is just a special feeling I get when playing Nintendo's first party games that other games fail to deliver. Some may complain about Nintendo being too kiddy, not selling enough, not advertising enough, or whatever....all I know is that Nintendo has the games I want. My favorite 3 are probably Zelda: Wind Waker, Animal Crossing, and Mario Sunshine, all of which are "supposed" to be targeted for young kids. Whatever.

I'm another of those old gamers, 29 to be exact.  It's funny, as we all started the same way-Atari 2600 to NES.  I also had Colecovision in between them.  I've had Nintendo systems ever since '85, and have enjoyed every one of 'em. I've strayed once , bought a Turbo Grafix-16(ugh) , but only Nintendo makes games that can make you smile the whole time you play them, something i'm realizing once again with the Wind Waker.  I'm liking this thread, lets keep it going.

I agree, great thread!

I also started out with the Atari 2600. That was gaming bliss. It brings back fond memories of my childhood.
I've actually been looking at ebay to pick one up again! I've had about every system or played them:
Atari 2600, 5200,(all the other Atari systems), Intellivision, Vectrex, Colecovision, Nes, Super Nes, Nintendo
64, Gameboy, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, Turbographix,  Gamecube...etc, etc. Wish I had kept most of those systems...

Anyways, to stay on topic, it's nice to see the "older" gamers here speaking up and being heard. The only
people who are saying Nintendo "is teh kiddy" are the 13 year olds who don't know what a real video game
system is. Nintendo will always be number 1 in my heart.

It's funny, my father who is in his 50s just went to Gamestop(or whomever is formerly Funcoland) and picked up a used original NES system! It's funny because my dad doesn't really videogame too much. I suspect it comes from him retiring and having "extra time on his hands". I was glad he bought the NES.

Nintendo to me has always meant fun and quality and that's why they get my money!

This thread makes me feel like Christmas. . . and I'll just assume that you know what I mean.  Just plain good.

I've had NES, basically have SNES, Gameboy, N64, and Gamecube.  I've always been a loyal fan of Nintendo, but I don't think I consciously recognized it until I got my Gamecube, or perhaps the later years of the 64.
