Wii MotionPlus to Be Released Before June 16?

Now while this is no confirmation that Wii MotionPlus (and by extension, Wii Sports Resort) will release prior to that date, perhaps it is a sign.

Being that the game is arguably one of the more important titles for EA and Nintendo to show off the functionality of the new peripheral, you would assume that the peripheral will need to be available prior to that date. Hopefully Nintendo will shed some light on the official release date soon.

Hmmm I think that Wii Sports resort will be out a few days after E3.E3 takes place June 2nd-4th.

KravenMarch 04, 2009

I work for a gaming retailer and we have a date for the Conduit  as well in early June. If I am not mistaken, that too is utilizing Wii Motion Plus, so late May, early June seems like the appropriate time for it to hit retailers.

BeautifulShyMarch 04, 2009

Thanks Kraven for the info.

NinGurl69 *hugglesMarch 04, 2009

I thought Lotion Puss was dropped from The Conduit cuz they deemed it was worthless.

Ningurl is right.

High Voltage considered using Wii Motion Plus for the Conduit but they decided against it. I believe since the whole game was designed around the regular Wii Remote they decided adding Motion Plus late in the game would be more of a gimmick.

Conduit hits stores on June 9th which Neal reported last month.

I never understood why HVS ever needed Wii MotionPlus for The Conduit since at most Wii FPS uses motion to either reload or for a melee attack. I hope that MotionPlus comes out near the release of Grand Slam Tennis since that and Wii Sports Resort are the two perfect center piece titles to show off the potential of the peripheral.

Because right now it's all speculation if Wii MotionPlus and Wii Sports Resorts comes out before June 16th which is the release date of Grand Slam Tennis. If I'm speculating about something then I wouldn't want to post it as news since a person could always be wrong. I also think that it's a interesting observation.

I think the idea behind using WMP was to allow you to play the game even if your not pointing directly at sensor bar or something.

Anyway onto the subject.

I predict Nintendo will have a press release and maybe Q/A session with reporters stating Wii Sports Resort will release on June 16th, 2009 in all parts of the world .

Here's something interesting from IGN's Nintendo Podcast; there's speculation that Wii Sports Resort and Wii MotionPlus will be delayed with a possible summer release date. The reason being is that Nintendo is having development issues with the peripheral, in the podcast they speculate the issue is that Wii MotionPlus has to be re-calibrated constantly so Nintendo is probably trying to reduce that.  Also they mentioned that Wii Sports Resort will feature 8 games instead of 10.

I take rumors, especially based in speculation, with a grain of salt. Even if IGN is right about why MotionPlus is delayed (if it is), we may never be able to confirm.

KDR_11kMarch 05, 2009

Whenever it comes out will probably still be way ahead of Dynamic Slash so I hope support for that is going to happen.

I think Dynamic Slash may secretly be a Motion Plus title.

Delay and turned into Wii 2. That's what happened to the WiiMote, it was intended to be a peripheral for the Gamecube that they made into a new console. It was the mysterious peripheral announced/mentioned by NoA back in '03-'04 around the time Jungle Beat came out in the states if I remember correctly.

NinGurl69 *hugglesMarch 09, 2009

But that was without the Nunchuk.  They had to tape the 2nd GameCube in order to enable the power of Wii Remote Expandability.

So your saying the Wii 2 will be three Gamecubes stuck together or two Wiis stuck together?

Wait.

So you're saying THERE'S A THIRD NUNCHUK?

Great Zephos' gaping arse.  E3 will be killer this year.

There will be three times as many chances for inexperienced players to slug themselves or a friend in the nuts with all those attachments. They'll need to dispense with the startup safety message screen and just play a 30-second trailer on how to play it safe.

Grand Slam Tennis - 2.07.2009 - 49,99 Euro

Grand Slam Tennis Bundle with Wii Motion Plus - 2.07.2009 - 59,99 Euro

This sounds like that Wii Motion Plus will come out late June or Early July with a price point of around 10 dollars.

NinGurl69 *hugglesMarch 23, 2009

Nintendo is out to change game sales patterns for good.

GoldenPhoenixMarch 23, 2009

Glad to see that Nintendo is working with 3rd Parties when it comes to bundling it.

Bundle prices aren't necessarily equivalent to standalone prices. I think ACCF is 50€, ACCF+WS is 60€ and the WS alone is 30€ or something like that.

StogiMarch 23, 2009

KDR's right. It'll probably be more as a stand alone in order to entice people to buy the packaged deal.

GoldenPhoenixMarch 23, 2009

I think Motion Plus will be $20 in NA.

NinGurl69 *hugglesMarch 23, 2009

I can't remember if that was cheaper than the Rumble Pak.

Wasn't the rumble pack $20? Not really sure.

Mop it upMarch 23, 2009

Good question. I do believe the Nintendo 64 Rumble Pak was $20, as was the Controller Pak (memory card). The Expansion Pak was $30, though that wasn't a controller accessory.

If the Wii Wheel was $15 and doesn't have any electronic components in it then I can't imagine this thing being anything less than $20.

Actually the Wii Wheel is 9.99 a lot of retailers inflate the price by 5 dollars for a quick buck. Same thing happened to the Zapper where the MSRP was 19.99 but a lot of retailers charged 24.99 for it.

Mop it upMarch 23, 2009

I didn't know that, but that doesn't surprise me. In any case, the Wii Motion Plus isn't going to be the same price, so I'd say it'll be $15 minimum, though I really expect $20. Anything higher is getting excessive for a controller accessory.

Though I think it would be a better idea to sell it as cheap as possible ($5? $10?) to get it into the hands of everyone, especially if they plan to use it in many games.

I think they will just allow 3rd parties (along with themselves) pack it in whenever it is required.

Mop it upMarch 23, 2009

But then those games would likely have a higher price tag. They should be like Mario Kart and not raise the price. Mario Kart doesn't even require its included accessory.

Not necessarily. Maybe at first but down the line it is possible the price won't be higher.

StratosMarch 23, 2009

So I guess that solves out questions about a possible delay in the M+. That probably means that Nintendo is saving the release date announcement for GDC or some other event down the line.

That's what Amazon is for with $19.49 plus free shipping (at least on the US site). Though I just get my points straight from the Shop Channel. It's more convenient that ordering a card and waiting a week or going to the store whenever I need one. I just use my debit card. Also that way Nintendo gets more of my money instead of a middle man snagging it all.

like discussed in podcast a few back, I said than and I'll say again. WiiPlay 2 with extra motion plus and minigames that only use it.

BlackNMild2k1March 27, 2009

There is a new rumor about M+ in the Wii Rumor thread

M+ and permanently attached wiicondoms
Wiimote + eXtenZe & condoms to fit.
Nintendo thinks of everything.
