Super Mario Galaxy 2, LEGO Harry Potter, Dragon Quest IX, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii all make appearances in the top 10 for the July NPDs.
The July 2010 NPDs are in, and the biggest shock is that the Xbox 360 was the highest-selling system, besting the second-ranked Nintendo DS by nearly 50,000 units.

Disney Channel's Sprouse brothers will soon star in a new commercial for Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver.

Games on display to the public at the German trade fair next week revealed.
Gamescom, taking place in Cologne, Germany will be held from 18 - 22 August. Nintendo are making no new announcements, and the games that will be playable at Nintendo's booth are a subset of those that were displayed at E3. This time the event is open to the public, and it will be the first time many of these games have been playable outside of press events.

Square Enix's original DS RPG could see a sequel in the near future.
In an interview with Nintendo Power, Kingdom Hearts creator and artist Tetsuya Nomura discussed the possibilities of a sequel to The World Ends With You. "I'm really happy that the game was so well received in North America," Nomura told the magazine. "I definitely want to make a sequel. I'm very busy working on other titles right now, but when the time is right, I would love to make another installment of The World Ends with You."

Spin-off title for surprise hit dance game series aimed at children.

According to the company, the layoffs will not affect current game development.
High Voltage Software VP, Eric Nofsinger has confirmed via GameSpot that the studio has laid off 25 employees. A studio representative confirmed in an IGN report that "based on our current production requirements and predictions of what is needed for the remainder of 2010." "These changes are necessary to bring our organization to a healthy operational size."

Japanese Kingdom Hearts fans will receive a special item when pre-ordering Re:Coded.
Square Enix has confirmed that Japanese players that reserve Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded, the upcoming Nintendo DS title, will receive a special Kingdom Hearts shopping bag. The bag is an A4 cotton bag featuring a monochrome illustration of the game’s characters. The company has yet to release an image of the bag.

Players can learn about the new Pokemon region on the official site.
The latest Pokemon Black and White site update lets players learn more about the Isshu region featured in the game through an interactive map that hints at some of the things players will experience during their quest, such as where they will receive their first Pokemon, the first street you get to explore, and even a mysterious ruin.

Both Sora and Riku will be playable characters in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts title for 3DS.
In a discussion with Degenki, Kingdom Hearts creator and lead designer Tetsuya Nomura discussed the themes behind Kingdom Hearts 3DS’s story. While he didn’t dive into the details of the story, Nomura did state that the game would be about having trust in others.
Nomura briefly mentioned a new aspect of the gameplay. Players will be able to play as both Sora and Riku and switch between them.

Sonic's most colorful adventure yet has a release date and a new trailer.
Sega has announced that the Wii and DS exclusive Sonic title, Sonic Colors, will be released in North America on November 16. In addition to the release date, Sega has released a new gameplay trailer that shows off even more high speed gameplay combined with the new color power-up mechanics.
Players reserving the game at Gamestop will receive a Sonic hat as the pre-order gift.

Pokemon Black and White's director wants to put old and new players on the same level.
Pokemon Black and White, coming out in September in Japan, will feature only new Pokemon until the end, according to Junichi Masuda, the game's director, in a blog post on developer GameFreak's web site (translated via Andriasang).
Masuda explained that he wanted kids and adults to start at the same place in the new game, so everyone could have the sense of discovery with new creatures.

3DS games are not part of projections for the current fiscal year.
At a Q&A session during Capcom's recent investors briefing, Nintendo 3DS was one of the major subjects. When asked whether 3DS games were part of their projected sales and profits for the fiscal year ending 31 March 2011, the response was that the two games announced at E3, Resident Evil Revelations and Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, are not included in the figures.

The Big N won't be hosting a press conference this year.
Nintendo will not be hosting a press conference at GamesCom later this month. This is the second consecutive year that Nintendo has opted for a quieter presence at the German gaming convention, maintaining a booth, but not holding a separate press event. It has already been reported that they will not be releasing the launch price or date for the Nintendo 3DS handheld until September 29.

Nintendo's own web site gives a tentative release date for the interesting WiiWare title.
And Yet It Moves, the platformer from indie developer Broken Rules, is set to come out on August 23 according to a listing on Nintendo's web site.
While it isn't 100 percent official, the late August release is extremely likely, especially after the release date of recent WiiWare release Dive: The Medes Island Secret was leaked in the same manner.
