A couple of action games and the start of a hundred hours of climbing.
Four items were added to the eShop today before being buried by bundles and Switch shovelware:
Demos:
Persona 3 Reload (October 23) will allow players to get a head start on the Dark Hour with a demo, and progress in the demo will carry over to the full game when it launches.
Australian themed life sim Dinkum was revealed for November 5 and has a demo out now.

Maybe this one will finally solve the mystery of The Funhouse. (If you know, you know.)
It's not often that the second game in a trilogy gets remade before the first, but Danganronpa is taking a shot at it.
Danganronpa 2x2 will be available on both Switch 2 and Switch in 2026, and features a full remake of the original adventure game alongside a "what if" story that will change the murderers and their victims from the original.

You're taking the best game of 2020 and giving it a female protagonist? Go on...
It wasn't quite a shadowdrop, but Hades II joined its predecessor in coming out in September after a Nintendo event.
The follow-up to the 2020 action roguelike, which has been in Steam Early Access for roughly a year, will emerge in 1.0 on September 25. The game will be available on both Switch and Switch 2, and buyers on Switch will be able to get the upgrade pack for Switch 2 at no additional cost.

Square Enix is going to drop two Game 7s in three weeks early next year.

Still wondering if the "acquaintance" can become a spouse with two of the same gender Mii...
The original Switch is still getting love from Nintendo, and we know one of its previously announced games has a slightly narrower release window.
The announced-in-March Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream was shown today with a Spring 2026 release window. The character (Mii) creator was shown alongside from elements of gameplay, including the ability to pick up one Mii and drop them next to another to see if they hit it off.

It has been confirmed that winter will be coming earlier than most anticipated.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, the Tears of the Kingdom-themed action RPG (musou) announced previously for a winter release, received its release date today; the slaughter of mooks in their millions will commence November 2.

Kirby Air Riders is getting some familiar Amiibo functionality when it launches in November.
Figures of Kirby and the Bandana Waddle Dee were announced to be launching on the same day as the game (Nov 20), and both Amiibo will allow for swapping the character onto another base. The Amiibo will support "Figure Racers" in the same way Smash 4 (Wii U / 3DS) and Ultimate supported saving characters to the Amiibo.

In addition to the October 2 Galaxy 1 and 2 releases, there were three more Mario games announced for release in the early part of 2026.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is going to round out the year in Nintendo.
The Direct today revealed a December 4 launch date for the long-awaited Retro Studios project, and also revealed that Samus would have access to a motorcycle (named "Vi-O-La") at points during the story.

The next Pokemon spinoff is bound for consoles and will definitely be unlike any that have come before it.
Pokemon Pokopia was revealed for Switch 2 today with simply a "2026" release window. Produced in collaboration with Koei Tecmo, the game involves controlling a Ditto that transformed into a human (complete with signature Ditto face) and learning techniques from Pokemon to turn a barren land into a lush environment.

Fire Emblem is going to drag Heroes to its 10th anniversary kicking and screaming.
The final announcement of today's Nintendo Direct was for Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, launching in 2026 as a Switch 2 exclusive. Set around a divine monarch granting wishes, the game appears to be a standalone game though a brief scene with resident Three Houses deity Sothis appeared at the end.

Been a while since we had one of these on a Friday.
Nintendo is ready to bring us news Directly again.
A Nintendo Direct has appeared in the Nintendo Today app that will air on Friday (September 12) at 9 a.m. ET, 6 a.m. PT, 1300 UTC, and 10:30 in Newfoundland. The length and scope are currently unknown.
A Direct on a Friday is unusual for Nintendo, but the timing does put it to midnight on September 13 in Japan, which would be the exact 40th anniversary of the release of Super Mario Bros.
