Wii U didn't crack 2 million hardware sales in 2014, but Smash Bros., Amiibo, and Mario Kart show improvement.
The Wii U had its best hardware and software sales month ever, according to Nintendo, as hardware sales shot up 29% and software sales improved by 75% from 2013. In addition, around 2.5 million Amiibo have been sold so far, nearly double the total sales of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

The upcoming 3DS title will be out in time for spring!
Etrian Mystery Dungeon, the 3DS exclusive from Atlus and Spike Chunsoft, will be launching in North America on April 7.
The game takes the character customization and role-playing elements from the Etrian Odyssey series and meshes them with the beloved exploration-heavy roguelike gameplay found in the Mystery Dungeon games.

More more Marth! How do you like it? How do you like it?
Nintendo of America has announced it will restock the Marth Amiibo.
During Wednesday's Nintendo Direct, Bill Trinen announced that the figures will be available later this year.
Nintendo has not said if there are plans to restock other difficult to find Amiibo.
Marth, as well as the other Fire Emblem Amiibo, will be compatible with Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. when it releases on March 13.

This stylistic action puzzler looks to charm and stump gamers at the same time.
Hako Boy, a new title from HAL Laboratory, is available on the the Nintendo 3DS eShop in Japan for 630 yen (plus tax). The title, which literally means “Box Boy,” is a black and white action puzzle game that puts players in control of a box-shaped boy named Cubey as they guide him through the more than 150 puzzles.

Get ready to relive Capcom's classic RPG series.
Capcom announced today that Breath of Fire is set for a release on the Wii U Virtual Console next month, on February 12.
Originally released in North America in 1993, the RPG deals with a boy named Ryu who is able to shape shift into a dragon. He travels around the world in search of his missing sister, and deals with an evil organization along the way.

It's all about the money.
Nintendo has responded to questions as to why there will be no AC adapter packaged with the upcoming New 3DS XL systems.
"New Nintendo 3DS XL uses the same AC adapter as any Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo DSi system" the statement given to IGN reads. "Rather than raise cost of New Nintendo 3DS XL by charging consumers for a component they may already own, we are giving them the option to only buy if they need an AC adapter."

Non-New 3DS owners will have to wait a little while before they can make use of those amiibo on their old units.
The Nintendo 3DS NFC Reader Writer adapter is scheduled to release this summer in Japan. While no specifics on price were given, the device will allow owners of original 3DS and 3DS XL units to use amiibo in 3DS games.
There is currently no word as to when the device will be released in the West.

More hot new Mario themed controller options are headed to retailers in Japan soon.
Two new Wii Remote Plus controllers are coming to Japan on March 12.
The controllers, part of the Super Mario series of Wii Remotes, feature designs based around Bowser and Toad. They will retail for 3,619 yen plus tax. Right now, there is no release information for these two controllers in the West.

Whether you're into fashion or music, Nintendo has you covered.
Girls Mode (Style Savvy) 3: Kira Kira Coord(inate) and a new title in the Rhythm Heaven are coming to the Nintendo 3DS in Japan.
Girls Mode 3, set to release April 16 for 4,700 yen, will allow players to run their own fashion shop (complete with a deluge of clothing and accessories), be a hairdresser, makeup artist, clothing designer or a model. There is currently no word as to when or if the title will leave Japan.

Nintendo has officially released a statement regarding the New 3DS model.
"Different territories make their own business decisions regarding individual products and timing" the statement given to Kotaku says. "We think New Nintendo 3DS XL makes the most sense for our market. Nintendo makes different systems at different price points for a whole range of consumers, and New Nintendo 3DS XL simply expands those choices even further."

MonolithSoft's epic role-playing game is sure to be a visual marvel.
During today's Nintendo Direct, a new trailer for MonolithSoft's upcoming Wii U exclusive Xenoblade Chronicles X was revealed, showcasing the game's vast open world.
Give it a look below.
We still don't have a release date in the West for the Xenoblade Chronicles sequel, but Nintendo has assured us it will be out by the end of the year. It is set to arrive in Japan on April 29.

You'll be able to bring your Amiibo with you on the go starting next month.
The 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. will be getting Amiibo support next month, Nintendo announced during today's Direct broadcast.
A system update will be rolling out in February that allows players to use the NFC capabilities of the New Nintendo 3DS XL to scan in their character data for use in the popular fighting game.

A new line of Super Mario Amiibo have been announced for use in current and upcoming titles.

Play the Zelda remake on a New 3DS fit for Termina.
Along with the standard model, a Majoras Mask 3DS XL has been announced as well for a Feb 13 release.
The system will release the same day as The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D releases in North America, as well as the other New 3DS models.

A shiny new Toad Amiibo means shiny new Toad challenges!
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will be gaining Amiibo support on March 20, the same day as the Toad Amiibo launches.
While Nintendo didn't go into detail during this morning's Nintendo Direct, they announced that if you scan the Toad Amiibo, you will unlock new challenges within the game involving finding a small 8-bit Toad sprite.

Make sure you get your Fire Emblem Amiibo so you can play as Marth, Ike, and more in the upcoming 3DS RPG.
Amiibo support has been confirmed for Code Name: S.T.E.A.M in which you can play as classic Fire Emblem characters.
Using the 3DS Amiibo support, putting the Marth, Ike or Robin statues will allow them to be playable in the game. However, if they die during the course of battle, they won't be able to be revived.
