Bring your own 3DS to take part in multiplayer matches, StreetPassing, and more.
Nintendo Australia has announced that it will attend the Melbourne and Gold Coast Supanova pop culture convention this year.
At the events, Nintendo will host a lounge area where players can come and interact with their Nintendo 3DS's. Multiplayer matches will likely be a large attraction of the event, as will StreetPass. Nintendo will also provide charging stations so players don't have to worry about their system dying throughout the day.

Independent developers speak to the next generation.
Indies with a history of developing for Nintendo consoles will speak at the fifth annual iDÉAME conference, a collaboration between Spain's Universidad Complutense de Madrid (the Complutense University of Madrid) and Nintendo. To celebrate, the Wii U and 3DS eShop will feature a number of discounts on the works of these independent developers.

No tea-tables "officially" upended.
The original bosses of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon were thrown out by Shigeru Miyamoto.
Known for his "upending of tea-tables" (making dramatic changes during the development process) Miyamoto canned the original bosses and had Next Level Games create new ones early in development. This was revealed in an interview with the developers of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon on IGN.

Shiro Games considering the possibilities.
Evoland may come to a Nintendo platform, according to a post on Destructoid.
Developer Shiro Games says they have talked to Nintendo about bringing the game to one of their systems. They said "It is quite a bit of work from a technology and UI standpoint" and also noted that they have already started work on their next game.

Two songs to be exact.
Mega Man and U.N. Squadron composer Manami Matsumae is writing two songs for Shovel Knight. The developer, Yacht Club Games, announced the collaboration through the game's Kickstarter page.
Yacht Club Games was able to bring on Matsumae for the 3DS/Wii U title after Koopa Soundworks reached out to them with the opportunity.

Less than two months after the other console releases, Aliens is canned on Wii U.
The Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines has been canceled, a Sega representative told IGN.
The Playstation and Xbox versions of Aliens launched in early February. While many were heavily anticipating the title, the final product was panned by reviewers and consumers alike. Until now, Sega, the game's publisher, was unable to confirm nor deny rumors that the Wii U project had been scrapped.

Demolishing errors one update at a time.
Nintendo released a system update today, upgrading the 3DS to version 5.1.0-11U.
According to Nintendo’s website, this system update fixes an error some users received after the recent 5.0.0-11U update in March, which prevented access to the System Settings, Nintendo eShop, and Game Notes.
The update should completely fix the problem, but if you are still experiencing the error, related troubleshooting can be found here.

The spiritual successor to Battle Beasts gets a game.
Beast Saga: The Strongest Clash in the Colosseum is coming to the 3DS in Japan this July.
Based on the anime and manga of the same name, Beast Saga is the spiritual successor to the 1980's Battle Beasts toys. So far two characters, Liogre and Big Serow, are confirmed to appear in the fighting /action title.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy may be coming to the west according to Siliconera.
Their report states that multiple trusted sources have said it is being localized for English speaking players. Bravely Default is a well received JRPG that released in October of last year in Japan.

This morning, Nintendo has added two new features to the Miiverse service on the Wii U.
There is now a more streamlined community menu, with everything being split up in various sections. Now you can find the specific services and games even quicker than before, with the menu just showing the newest games directly on the front.

The mouse house wants it to license games instead.
LucasArts will no longer be internally developing games after changes made by its owner, The Walt Disney Company.
A statement released by Disney reveals LucasArts will not be developing games, and instead will be licensing them in order to work on "minimizing the company's risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games." This shift is also the cause of layoffs happening today at LucasArts.
