hehe you know the hordes of enemies far away could be rendered with sprites and nobody would notice....if they're in the distance then you can't see around them, up close they could switch to polygon versions. But i doubt they'd do that.

also, i remember reading an article way back in the day about how the original playstation could render something like a million sprites.
I remember the nba games on dreamcast had some pretty good sprites in the background. Once again i'd doubt they would do this.

Maybe there's hope for Resident Evil 5 now. Since the latest previews show that Resident Evil 5 is basically Resident Evil 4 in HD, all they need to do is downgrade the models a little and boom, you got a Wii version.

Yay, ports?

Has it come to this? We're praising Capcom for porting even more games onto the Wii? Funderful. I don't even want RE5 ported since I'll likely have a PS3 by then. I don't want Capcom to un-HD the graphics and add Wii Remote support to a game built for another console. I want a new game, built for the Wii. A so-called hardcore game and NOT an f-ing spin-off. Better yet, something that makes use of MotionPlus. The Wii has sold too many units for:

1. Publishers to just port old games over and call it a day.

2. Wii owners to get excited by said ports.

I can't get excited over Dead Rising coming to Wii. I bought my brother a 360 and if I really wanted, I could get Dead Rising for less than $25. Lame-o.

We've been conditioned to expect less. The Wii normally gets last gen ports so this is actually better. And the sad truth is that if they gave us an original property they would make it a crappy spin-off. That's what they do.

For me I would be happy if the situation where a third party game is released for every console BUT the Wii disappeared. That's realistically the best to hope for. Nintendo designed too different a console for us to be getting all sorts of great exclusives. The Wii has last gen hardware and a weird controller so what's the appeal for a dev? They can't design something conventional because of the controller. So we're going to get g!mmicky spin-offs because the original series rely on a conventional controller. And unless they specifically have an idea for the remote why make a Wii game when the console has a big hardware restriction. Plus if it uses normal controls most of the userbae lacks the classic controller for it anyway.

So getting Resident Evil 5 would be a big deal to me because it's either that or dumb spin-off bullsh!t. Take the lesser of two evils and curse Nintendo for finding a way to be the market leader and yet still completely sabotage third party support.

And RE5 HD isn't going to be as great as it could be because 1) no Mikami and 2) the high tech last-gen controller.

This'll have to be cheap and have a solid control setup for me to even think of a purchase. I played the 360 demo and it felt clunky.

Well the paint isn't that fresh. It's familiar grungy Hollywooded Africa locales with an emphasis on military firepower using stiff analog stick controls.

RE4 at least brought us some place different with some mystery to it, rather than sand & guns.
