What are you talking about Ian? In the past, concerns have been given over the effect that SSBB would have on third party titles releasing in the month of February.

No More Heroes got pushed into January JUST to avoid it. Dragon Quest: Swords is a HUGE release that one should hope to do well... and it comes out in February too.

The push of Brawl into March opens up a breathing space for extremely important third parties Ubisoft and Square-Soft, and those key games won't be "sent to die" now. Hardcore gamers should now have the time and financial space to purchase important january and february releases they would've otherwsie skipped over. Personally, I'm breathing a big sigh of relief with this delay.

Of course, the ideal situation would also have Bully for the Wii, from important third-party Take-Two, releasing sometime in February so it could have its own breathing space, but as of right now that's releasing only a couple days before smash and will likely have depressed sales because of Nintendo's blockbuster, for which I am sad.

My suggestion to Nintendo: if you don't know when the game is going to be ready, please do not attach a release date to the game.
Anounce the game, have the daily updates, but oh is it so hard to think "hmm, maybe we shouldn't put a release date until it goes gold because the world will be angry at us".
Now, I have to play other games until March 9. Is that what you really want, Nintendo? You don't want me playing Smash Bros before March 9. U SUCK!

I think Nintendo's biggest mistake was hyping Brawl to days on end. Metroid Prime 3 and Galaxy were both delayed, yet I don't recall people going INSANE over them. Yet, Brawl is delayed and people are threatening to kill Sakurai.

Had they played the hype down people wouldn't be this upset now.

Well it looks like it's time to buy a Japanese Wii.  Unless we're getting exclusive content then this is total BS.  Oh and if NOA dare removes content like those Japanese Pikmin songs then this is the ultimate finger they could give their fans.  If the North American version of the game has LESS content then the Japanese version then we should be getting the damn thing first.  There's no excuse, not one damn excuse we should have to wait an extra month for an inferior version of the game if Japan is getting the superior version in 2 weeks.

So the English version better have more content or at least the same amount of content as the Japanese version.  Because if there's even one thing removed, even if it's just a sticker of some obscure Japanese only character nobody even nows about, that's still unexceptable, PERIOD

Frankly, if they take out some of the Japan only stuff I wouldn't care. But I doubt they would be doing that. Most of the assist trophies have been shown off in the US demos, and its been proven that the Brawl translating EVERY single aspect of the game, Japan only stuff included.

You know, the last few hours have been surprising. I know fans can be very personal when it comes to what they love, but the angst and rage the Brawl delay has caused has been SURPRISING to say the least. The amount of hate Nintendo is getting is almost as bad as when they revealed the Wii name.

It goes to show you that Brawl will perhaps be the biggest Wii game EVER. Fans never got this personal when Metroid Prime 3 and Galaxy were delayed, especially when Nintendo promised both of them would be launch titles. Hell, when Twilight Princess got delayed multiple times the amount of rage wasn't THIS big. In fact, most fans were happy that it got moved to the Wii!

Like I said earlier, this is Nintendo's fault for hyping the game. First, after they said that the game wasn't at E3 06 they surprised everyone with a trailer featuring Snake. Then, they keep quiet about it for nearly a year, then they unleash hell on Earth with the blog and its constant megatons. Finally, and what puts the final nail on the coffin, they dare to put a date on the game. Maybe Nintendo and Sakurai DID believe the game would be ready by then, but unexpected issues arose and had to delay it. But still, had Nintendo stayed quiet about the release maybe no one would be this upset now.

After seeing all the anger the delay has caused I am ready to believe that Brawl will truly be a Halo killer. The only other game I have seen which drives gamers to the point of insanity is Halo. True, Galaxy was celebrated, Bioshock was welcomed with open arms and Call of Duty 4 changed a formula, but NONE of them were able to stir gamer's emotions as Halo did, and Brawl could have the same effect on people.

Mark my words: Brawl will be the Wii game with the most cultural impact in the gaming community.

"Hell, when Twilight Princess got delayed multiple times the amount of rage wasn't THIS big. In fact, most fans were happy that it got moved to the Wii!"

I recall it being a pretty hot topic at the time.  It was debated for months.  This seems pretty small.  It's really just "f*ck, they delayed Brawl".  TP's delay or the Wii's name were topics that split the forum into seperate sides of debates.

"Mark my words: Brawl will be the Wii game with the most cultural impact in the gaming community."

The ironic thing is that SSB is by its nature designed for hardcore Nintendo fans.  While it might become a Halo killer, much of the charm of it would actually go over the heads of most of the audience.

1 week after its released we will have no knowledge of this delay.

Sadly, delays are among the most vivid memories of a Nintendo fan:

Metroid Prime 3 and Galaxy were both delayed

If Super Paper Mario is anything to go by, we won't be seeing it until September

N64 games weren't million sellers because of delays. It was because the userbase was so f*cking starved for games that if anything decent came out they grabbed it because nothing else would show up for months

As long as it was delayed one month in each territory I would be fine.

I'm agree with Miyamoto says that a good game need to be delayed, but the bad game is bad forever, but my angry is because they give a date, then, when is approaching, delay it again, oh, come on, how they want that we don't angry?

And as someone said, I think that the delay in NA for a month, is a marketing problem principally, the difference between a week in Japan and a month here is abysmal.

I've heard rumblings that there's going to be a shortage of copis for Japan, so maybe the delay IS to print more copies for the U.S. market?

I haven't seen this much incompetence since the Gamecube era.
