I  don't get that impression. The trophies shown and the assist trophies shown seem pretty different. There's overlap, sure, but nothing to make me think that all T's are AT's.

The latest Brawl impressions from the Hobby may kill the credibility of the most requested list.

Supposedly, people saw a weird rabbit AT. Some claim it was Demiru, the rabbit from Tomato Adventure. He appears on both lists, with two votes on the request list.

If this is true that means that just because the character is requested it doesn't mean Sakurai will consider him or her as a playable character. So, even characters like Megaman and Geno might not have a chance .

Not exactly, only the characters with three or more votes ever stood a real chance since they were clearly the most popular one.  Plus you have to remember Tomato Adventure sold pretty poorly in Japan so only the truly hardcore Nintendo fans over there knew who he was.  In other words, Demiru never stood a chance of being playable since he's Japan only and most gamers in Japan have no idea who he is either.

Out of all the characters with two votes the only ones that stand any real chance of being playable are Animal Crossing MC, Claus, King K.Rool, Isaac, and Megaman.

I'm actually happy because it's really seeming like every character on the list is likely to show up at least as an Assist trophy.

...or it could be the space rabbit from SMG.

It could be, but what would he do? Jump around creating a "Goldeen" effect?

Catch him and he gives you stuff like in the games.

Like items or you heal for 30% or something.

Time to update, Bill!

Jeff from Earthbound has been confirmed as an AT on the Iwata interview.

Jeff was also on the most requested list with 2 votes. This means that even popular characters can be turned into ATs if they are not good enough.

So, good-bye Kawashima, Ouendan, Takamaru, Megaman, Demiru and any of the other characters that got 2 votes.

Aw.  Jeff could've been a cool character, what with his magnum airguns and bottle rockets. ):

Wait how does that mean those characters won't be in it? I think Sakurai includes whoever he wants with that list as nothing more than guidance. Sakurai has shown in the past he doesn't really care who fans really want in the game, but kind of goes his own way.

Well, that might have been true in the past, but we did get Sonic, which was arguably the most requested character in the whole game. And some of the characters in the most requested list did make it in.

I say we give the list more credit if Megaman or Geno make it in.
