I think we can all agree that SSBB is a game which has a 5-6 year lifespan in terms of the multiplayer battles. We will more than likely be playing SSBB until the release of the next SSB game on the Wii2.
While the SSE mode will no doubt be an enjoyable and welcome addition, I'm not going to be playing the SSE mode for the next 5-6 years straight. I will not be collecting trophies for 5-6 years straight. No one will (unless you're really terrible at it, I guess).
So it's like this: I can't get terribly excited over something which I'll likely spend a month playing, tops, when I know there are updates which will be relevant for a whole 5-6 years.
A character reveal is obviously the best, but to a lesser extent, we have ATs, stages and items, all of which we will be playing as/with for the next 5-6 years, hence why I was pissed that we got a musical sample from Sonic but not his level (I'm morbidly curious to see the Sonic level).
It's like David Copperfield comes out on stage and starts doing card tricks and pulling quarters from behind people's ears when you know he's going to make a tiger disappear later in the show. I realize Sakurai is stalling for time, but I'm not going to pop a SSBoner over sleight of hand.
