I doubt they'd have multiple playables from the Sonic franchise.

But I suspect we'll see both Knuckles and Tails as ATs.

Well, if we have ATs from Metal Gear, I don't see why we wouldn't have a few from the Sonic franchise, and who better than Tales, Knuckles and Robotnik?

I missed a great music update, which is surprising considering it's probably one of my least favorite classic Sonic tracks (not really saying much, but still...)

This is why I loved the update so much.  The original version of Angel Island is one of my least favorite Sonic tunes as well, but I feel that the Brawl remix improves the song a lot.  The only thing I worry about now though is if we'll have anymore songs from Sonic 3 in the game.  My favorite songs in that game were Hydrocity Zone, Flying Battery Zone, and Lava Reef Zone and so I hope at least one of these three is able to make it in the game as well.

Today's update: Trophy stand

During adventure mode, you'll find an item called "trophy stand". What it does is capture an enemy and turns it into a trophy. Its basically the same concept as Pokemon; battle an enemy, make sure its weak, catch it and its part of your collection.

Not an useful update and frankly, I doubt people outside Smash fanatics will go through all that trouble just to get trophies.

We already knew about this, thanks to adventure mode videos from E4All.

Basically, they've managed to inject even MORE Pokeman into this game with a "trophy" system which is near identical to Pokeman capture methods.

Sigh...

It's going to take a little more than "Gotta catch 'em all!" to win my affections back after such a dry spell.

I think that the trophy stand will be much more stategic then everyone gives it credit for.  Some enemies are just hard to smash off, metal mario event, and if I can just weaken them to a point and turn them into a trophy saves me trouble.

Question, how effectively can you do this in single player if you have to be carrying that stand and chipping away at the enemies power?  Rely on the computer to do the attacking?  Can you pocket the stand until you need it?

I love this Pokémon vibe.  Even though I'm a Pokémon fan, I don't see why anyone would dislike another reason to have to replay The Subspace Emissary.

It's a nice touch.  It's cool to integrate gameplay mechanics from the represented games.  Kind of like how All-Star mode in Melee was very much like Kirby: Super Star's Arena.  Okay, maybe that's a bit different, since that's really basic.  But still.

We'll see if Pokémon-like catching in a platforming environment is easier or harder!  Now you may actually have to aim.  Though my guess is that they won't "burst free" from their stands as often (if at all) like many rare Pokémon do in their own games.

S_B doesn't have a grudge against Pokemon. He never played any Pokemon game till Ruby and Sapphire and he spent hundreds of hours playing it. He did pass on Diamond and Pearl but that was because he avoids games that have extremely similar gameplay.

He is simply saying that its going to take a bigger update to impress him and that while the trophy stand update is nice its not what he's looking for.

He isn't a fan of trophies either so he will NOT spend time getting them.

anyone notice the little wifi picture they added? Im not sure if the link to nintendo.com is new too. Either way, I think its the first (and very small)sign of Nintendo starting to advertise brawl. Hopefully we'll be seeing a commercial soon thats even better than the 64 one.

I think we can all agree that SSBB is a game which has a 5-6 year lifespan in terms of the multiplayer battles. We will more than likely be playing SSBB until the release of the next SSB game on the Wii2.

While the SSE mode will no doubt be an enjoyable and welcome addition, I'm not going to be playing the SSE mode for the next 5-6 years straight. I will not be collecting trophies for 5-6 years straight. No one will (unless you're really terrible at it, I guess).

So it's like this: I can't get terribly excited over something which I'll likely spend a month playing, tops, when I know there are updates which will be relevant for a whole 5-6 years.

A character reveal is obviously the best, but to a lesser extent, we have ATs, stages and items, all of which we will be playing as/with for the next 5-6 years, hence why I was pissed that we got a musical sample from Sonic but not his level (I'm morbidly curious to see the Sonic level).

It's like David Copperfield comes out on stage and starts doing card tricks and pulling quarters from behind people's ears when you know he's going to make a tiger disappear later in the show. I realize Sakurai is stalling for time, but I'm not going to pop a SSBoner over sleight of hand.

You took it too far. It's cool that you don't care about, but to other people (like myself) I think it's pretty damn cool.

It doesn't, but I'm a bit surprised this many people are so excited for it, especially since we already saw it in the E4All videos and no one seemed to care about it then.

You could quite clearly see in one of the videos as a character picked up the trophy stand, threw it into a Goomba or a Koopa (can't remember) and it became a trophy.

Are we so desperate that we get excited about stuff from the E4All videos months later?

I understand that not all updates have to be mega spectacular, but like I said already if we didn't think it was all that great, fine. If people liked it, fine.

But I will not waste time arguing semantics. Some liked the update, others didn't.
