Couldnt there be an MMO where the actual fighting is turn based though? When I think of it as an MMO, I thinking it would be more like everyone playing their own seperate game, only everyone is on the same map/world. Everyone starts off with a Pokemon and have to quest around this world finding & collecting pokemon in the wild to add to their arsenal. If you run into another "quester" on your travels, you can challenge them and then take one of their(non-starter) pokemon as a prize(or whatever is agreed to before battle begins). the world map would be broken into continents, and each continent will have countries, each countries will have states and all states will have counties. Certain pokemon can only be found in certain areas, and new areas will only be accessable once you've earned enough badges to move on. Each county will have an Arena which is where you would earn our badges in the form of competition. Each competition will play out like the console versions of Pokemon and each Arena would have a champion. The ability to form teams, and champion many Dojo's/arena's and take on all comers.
I guess the goal would be to collect all the pokemon, train all the pokemon, defeat each Pokemon Dojo for a badge and to become Champion of every Arena(which is challengeable by any other player).
*I was gonna get really indepth wit what I would like to see in a Pokemon MMO, but thats not really what this thread is about, so I cut it short.*
The point I'm trying to get at is I don't see why it would really have to be a different game, just one that you aren't playing alone, and one where things can change whether you were online playing or not.
