See, I told all you guys Mario Galaxy would have legs.  According to sales data about half of the people that have been buying Wii's for the last month in Japan, have been buying it for Mario Galaxy.  From the latest sales data it's pretty obvious that close to half the people are still buying it for Mario Galaxy.

In other words, never underestimate the power of Mario.

What surprised me is that Galaxy jumped back to the top ten after it was slowly sliding down. Most games don't do that so its impressive Galaxy went back to the top, even if its for a while.

It slid down because eight new games were released in the same week.  Galaxy's actual unit sales didn't decline, so once the new games dropped off the chart Galaxy moved back up.

PS3 is still being outsold by PS2 (and PSP, DS, Wii, and XBox 360), and Nintendo is still kicking everyone's ass, though Xbox 360 did very well, and PS3 did respectably well for about 2 weeks.

Also, GH3 on Wii outsold the 360 and PS3 version, though there was definitely a shortage of the XBox 360 version, but the Wii version is very hard to find as well.

Supposedly, in the US Galaxy has already outsold Sunshine's total for all of 2002.

Nope - Sunshine actually did really well in North America - it sold nearly 4 million copies (6 million total). Galaxy is still a ways from 2 million.

EDIT: According to IGN, more software numbers..

Mario and Sonic at the Olympics (#11) - 330k
Lego Star Wars - 180k
High School Musical - 180k
Zack & Wiki - 35k
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption - Almost 500k total

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles - 120K

Zak & Wiki did 35k this month.  The game was released in September and should most likely be over 100k sold by now, which is great for a niche, point-and-click adventure.

BTW, I just beat it last night.  What a great game!

Whoops! Eheh... corrected...

BTW Son Of Lucas, I've been watching your growing notoriety on the VGChartz forums and your keerrraaazzzyyy predictions too! Wouldn't Nintendo need to be a whole lot more aggressive in their hardware manufacturing in order to meet your predictions though? I have the feeling that Nintendo has hit a real dead-end in terms of increasing production for the time being.

They sure did, but I knew that couldn't be right.  I just listened to their Wii-k in Review (that's in friggin' ACC format) and Matt confirms that ZDub sold 135k LTD.  Those are great numbers.

"friggin' ACC"? You mean, AAC right? If you've never heard of AAC, you'd best get used to it. It's the successor to MP3. Lots of companies are using it (Apple iTunes is the largest) because no licenses or payments are required to be able to stream or distribute content in AAC format.
