License free? *pfffft* Check out Ogg Vorbis or FLAC formats. They are not only license free, but patent free also!

"friggin' ACC"? You mean, AAC right? If you've never heard of AAC, you'd best get used to it. It's the successor to MP3. Lots of companies are using it (Apple iTunes is the largest) because no licenses or payments are required to be able to stream or distribute content in AAC format.

Yeah, that's what I've been hearing.  I wasn't too upset about it after I figured out I could open it with quicktime (as opposed to wmp, which I usually listen to MP3s on).

I would do that, but FLAC does eat up a lot of space. It is, however, the best sounding format there is because the information stays exactly the same when you rip it from a CD, unlike with MP3 or even AAC. I have been thinking I should probably have my absolute favorite albums be in FLAC format, though.

Anyways, back on topic... I don't think it would be a good format for Wii considering the large file size. But it would be great if Nintendo offered more options than just AAC (or MP3 with the old revision). Not everyone has their music collection in either of these formats...

Wait, Z&W is 135k LTD? I could of sworn they said 35k LTD.  Hmm, well, the sometimes suspect Videogamechartz.com has it a 120k World Wid LTD. so maybe that's right. http://vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=12367

I think you took that out of context in the latest Wiik in review, Matt and Mark say it is 35k for the month and 135k LD which I don't think is bad at all for that game. Should merit at least a sequel considering it probably payed for the budget.

Has the Wii every had 6 games in the top ten before in one week?  It's starting to reach into DS territory there.

Here's a question: Will Mario Party 8 or Wii Fit be the next million selling Wii game in Japan?  Famitsu puts MP8 at about 948K sold as of last week.

I don't think it has. It is only now finally getting a good library of great games, so I think we'll see the Wii dominating the top 10 regularly from now on. There are probably going to be some weeks in the near future where all the top 10 are on Nintendo platforms. It almost happened this week, except for that one stupid PS3 game befouling the list. :P

Definitely MP8. If it is already at 948k then it only needs to sell 52k, which it can probably do in one more week.

Well, the thing with Galaxy is that a good percentage of all new Wii owners every week will be buying it, because it's THE game to own. So it'll have really long legs.

So for the time being it basically correlates with the number of Wiis sold. Which means the hardware sales will be pretty high this week.

EDIT: Oh yes, and also...

This, once again, proves that "non-games" are HELPING Nintendo's traditional games. Remember when Brain Age and Nintendogs sparked huge hardware sales, which set the plate for NSMB and other traditional games to sell really well?

Well, the same thing's happening here. WiiFit is boosting the demand for Wii, and Galaxy is benefiting.

Actually the week before Christmas is when games and hardware have their biggest sales in Japan.  Which means Media Creates charts that come out next week will be even HIGHER then the ones you see now.

It should be interesting to see how Wii sales will be when Smash Bros comes out in Japan.  It's obvious that Mario Galaxy is getting a lot of traditional gamers to finally buy a Wii over there, so with the combination of Smash Bros in a month, Wii sales should remain very strong.

Plus with Wii Fit continuing to bring in the non gamers, Japan will remain Nintendo Land for a long time.

Smash Bros Melee sold almost 1.5 million in Japan (compared to Sunshine's less than 1 million) and with the much bigger installed base for the Wii, I expect Brawl to do really well there.

Sigh. THERE IS NO CHRISTMAS IN JAPAN. I recall sales being higher the last week of December and the first week of January than this week traditionally.

Wii Love Golf was an ABSOLUTE DISASTER. It does say a LOT about the Wii userbase though. It still only consists of Nintards and non-gamers. It's very clear the REAL hardcore gamers who actually have half a brain are still stuck on the Sony side waiting for PS3 to be cheaper, then again if they really were smart they would HAVE A Wii. The game IS the new Mario Golf but BETTER, but Wii owners are too ignorant to know. On one side of the userbase you have the Nintendo fans who only buy Nintendo games, on the other side you have the new gamers who don't know what to buy and just buy what's advertised. That leaves NO room for third parties and it's no wonder they all want Wii to fail. If Mario was in Wii Love Golf it'd sell half a million. Come on Nintendo, release game training already.

NiGHTS did heaps better than I expected, at least it made the top thirty and almost sold 20,000.
