This is shocking news.

Didn't the whole world know this already?

Maybe there's some substance to those rumors that it "could" launch in 2005 now? If Sony are smart though, they'll wait until 2006 to release it, though I guess it doesn't really matter, since it's PLAYSTATION it'll sell regardless. It would be funny if they launched a day before Xbox 360 though, that would pretty much kill that console.

And Nintendo's if the Rev doesn't make a significant appearance. Though I imagine (or hope anyway) that Nintendo is basing their showing on what the competition shows. They're showing last so they have a lot of flexibility in what they show.

I agree with Ian... It seems that's what Nintendo is planning. Perrin's comments right after MTV X360 are evidence.

Apple may also be helping Sony with some UI design for the PS3 dashboard interface. No links, and for that I appologize, but I figured people would like to hear this information anyways. If the rumors hold true, this would be mutually benefitical for Sony and Apple in a lot of ways.

The real question should be:why work with Apple for iTunes-support for the PS3 if your making your own iTunes competitor for the PSP?
Seeing that the guy only talks about the PS3 and not the PSP adds to the fact that this is probably not true. And didn't Sony hate iTunes because it eats away their income on record sales?

it called profit sharing, the PSP cannaot compete w/ the iPod in mass storage portable mp3 player market, but if tey make it so that every song d/l from PS3 sony gets a share of the profits, and Apple gets a huge boost in iTunes userts who are now more likely to either buy an iPod to d/l music or just 70mil PS3 users who are d/ling music from iTunes whether they have an iPod or not.

Sony Connect. And besides, Apple isn't going to partner with Sony, at least not any more than with Microsoft (the Xenon can connect to the iPod).

Why does everybody throw around the "Apple card"? Apple doesn't bring anything to the table except a brand name.

I have strong distrust of anything that uses numbers as letters. Except internet Arabic, because there's really no choice there.

Those icons are bits of the DualShock buttons. They'll be changing the controller, I'm guessing with a trackball. Or maybe just the symbols on the buttons, but I have no idea why that would be welcome to anybody except FAQ writers.

I say its a fake, no question about it. The 3 doesn't look right for one thing, looks likt it was edited from the back of a PSP

p.s. I only post this cause its from a 'supposed insider'(no credibility) that doesn't want it posted, it was supposed to be a secret

Thank You KDR...

Let's put this deal another way, iTunes and iPod are number 1 in their respective markets.
Apple doesn't need Sony to help sell iTunes or iPods.

Sony, however, could use iTunes to help legitamize the PSP as a mulit-function device.
Sony benefits from this deal much more then Apple does.

That is the worst mockup ever. You can see the lines on the 3 where it's another color. No to mention is not nearly as wide as the other letters. The things along the top are terrible too, you can see the black where they were cut from other images.

I can't believe they thought it'd convince people.

Those half symbols apparently mean it's a half assed system. But hell, MS is talking about a new era, Sony is talking about change, sounds like they've taken a cue from Nintendo and the reaction of gamers towards the promise of innovation.
