Hrm...
Wind Waker is one of my hated ones.

I hate it because no one else wants to admit that they didn't like the design.  Everyone is all like...."miyamoto/shiggy is a genius, he'd never put out a bad game... he knows what we want... i like being told to like things....if it came from miyamoto/shiggy it must be great " like your all afraid that nintendo is going to come to your house in the middle of the night and kill you for not liking something. Well, my opinion is that miyamoto and shiggy crap and pee just like the rest of us...and i know that stuff isn't good, even though it comes from them.   If you have to be told to like something, or if you have to "warm up to it" then you don't like it. You're kidding yourself. But it wasn't only the design for me, I didn't like the gameplay.  I didn't like that there were only 3 main temples...lame.  You could beat the game after only playing those three temples and almost everything else was optional.  Wind Waker didn't have that epic feel, like you were embarking on something great.  Ocarina of Time was wonderful. A lot of the sub-quests were necessary to complete the game.  And it was easy to get from place to place.  You didn't have to stop the game and play a song to be able to go a different direction.  Wind Waker felt like a chore....and no I still have finished that chore.  It became so boring that I've stopped at the temple of the gods, and i don't have any intention on finishing either.

just thinking about a loz movie makes me cream my pants.....god i can't wait until it comes out.  Orlando Bloom is a good choice for adult link, but who would play kid linK..there's this one child actor who appeared in both an episode of "the x-files" and an episode of "malcolm in the middle" who would fit the part, but  i can't quite think of his name....he's probaly a little too old now anyway.  hmmm....

Hi. I'm Mark and I'm 19 and an alcoholic....oh wait

I mean I've had my cube since the U.S. launch date.  I have about 15 games for the cube.  I got my ps2 just recently so otherwise i would have more cube games but i've been investing in my ps2 a little.  No, i won't be getting a platinum cube, nor will i be getting a q.  I like long walks on the beach and to curl up by the fire place with that special someone.

I don't care how many characters there are just as long as some aren't clones of eachother.  its no point in having multiple characters that do the same thing.
They should have more widely known characters as well, i.e. not characters like the ice-climbers

Also some sort of online play would be nice.  I know some of you guys are saying that the gc to gc connectivity is enough... but thats old news.  Its been around since the ps1 for god sakes!  And the same problems apply.  You need two tvs.   At this rate, my wristwatch will be online before nintendo.    Net play is the future, Nintendo needs to get off its rear and stop waiting for sony and MS to blaze the trail first.

thank god you said it.  i'm not a fan of online play, but i'd rather have online play than pointless gba/gc connectivity.  its more of a hassle than a help.

i caught it by mistake once, well not mistake, its just that, i really wasn't trying to catch it.   Anyway, it wasn't even in a deep end or anything.  I think it was in the shallow part by the big tree trunk laying on it's side.
But when i started a new file and tried to catch it again, i couldn't even find the sinking lure.  I looked where i had found it before, and searched the whole pond, but still couldn't find the goddam sinking lure. phooey.

It's just our govenment's way of telling the people that they're too dumb to save the money for their retirements on their own.  Besides, by the time we're old enough for social security, they won't have enough for us, so I've heard, because our government doesn't know how to dispurse it back correctly either.

If being a an excellent president consists of lying to  your people and to the world to have your will done, and making sure that big businesses and the wealthy have even more money while poor people are forced to pay more for education and health care costs, then yes, Bush is an excellent president.

You complain that without government, the environment would be destroyed....hrmm, Bush just lightened pollution and waste laws and lightened restrictions, regulations, and standards for pollution producing factories and companies to "help the economy" while the federal government heavily edited and censored reports from the Environmental Protection Agency so the report would coincide with the current cabinets mind-set which is business, and not environmentally friendly.

So maybe you'd like to rethink the statement "Bush is an excellent president" just because you "don't feel so vulnerable to terrorists anymore."

When did I say social security is free??? I never said anything to that effect.
As far as our Govt. telling people that they're too dumb to save for retirement, have you ever thought that maybe some people can't afford to put money aside?  not everyone is as rich as you.

You saying Bush lied to the american people and the world is merely your opinion, there's nothing to back up that claim.
Did I say Bush was the reason why the environment is no longer being destroyed? No, I never said that.  I said without Govt. it would continually be destroyed.  (take a look at what Govt. has done within the last 30 years to combat destruction of the environment.)
And, it seems you only brought up a third of the issues regarding the Govt. that I listed, to debate my claim...
Yes I said Bush is an excellent president, but I didn't say just because I don't feel vulnerable to terrorists anymore.  I added that merely as some icing on the cake...

Well, if some people can't afford to put money aside, then why do they take it out of our checks in the first place? Yes, even poor people have social security taken out of their checks, so people not being able to afford puting money away is irrellavent.  And no, I'm NOT rich, therefore, I work, so I know the value of a dollar, and I know how much social security is taken out of my check every week, which is NON-REFUNDABLE until you retire or are killed then your children receive it, and you don't have the option for them not to take money out of your check for social security.  Bush did lie. Its been all over the news for the past week.  Where have you been?  They even lied about that whole Jessica Lynch, POW rescue. Did you know that there wasn't even iraqi forces at the hospital, and earlier that day, the hospital even gave them a master key to the hospital, so they could come and go as they please, but they were ordered to make it dramatic as if they were fighting for their lives, and they kicked in the door and other ridiculous occurances, just to dramatize the war, so there would be support for it.  Look up cnn.com, because I don't feel like making a link, and I'm sure you'll find more information on it and other things the excellent president has lied about as well.   So, yeah, that's not just my opinion, and there is plenty to back up that claim.

You said without govt. we'd have no social security, which I took as you meaning that Social security is some service the government supplies to us for free, but if that's not how you meant it, then consider my response to that, just an extra tidbit of info.

Government is a god send... people need to stop bashing it.  It does a hellavu lot more good than bad.

Nintendo Gaming / real time or turned base
« on: June 13, 2003, 05:23:58 AM »
Like others, i agree that it depends on the game.  Zelda is about adventure and exploring so it would be quite annoying to be stopped every 5 seconds and wait for the battle screen to come up and fight a moster by taking turns or waiting for a time-counter to go down then watching a little "yey i won" scene then seeing what items you got, with the whole process taking 5 min or more.  The fun about games like final fantasy is building up your character to see what new spells or abilities they have...so yea, even though that whole battle process takes a while, its exciting to see how much experience you have and how close you are to the next level and so on.

However, when it comes to turn-based or ATB, I prefer turn-based because you only have to wait for your enemy to make their attack in turn-based games while in ATB you have to wait for the counter to drain......boring.

Nintendo Gaming / Wind Waker 2
« on: June 08, 2003, 08:15:38 PM »
I think an easy way for nintendo to fit the Wind Waker in the timeline before Lttp is to have the sequel to wind-waker be either Link finds the Ocarina of Time and goes back in time to do something to prevent Hyrule from being destroyed or he finds the tri-force and wishes back Hyrule for some reason or both, he finds the ocarina and goes back in time to get the triforce and prevent Ganondorf from ever ruining the land which causes the gods to flood it. so many possibillities and that was while watching Driven featuring the creator of Girls Gone Wild. Phew

I'm not gone though, i just don't post hardly at all because for some reason every "debate" ends up turning into what nintendo is doing wrong, and I'm just tired of saying the same thing over and over.  I was gone for a while because my lung collapsed and I was bed ridden for over a month but I still visit and read some of the posts when I find the time.  I have noticed a whole new group of forum regulars and I find some of their comments intersting. A lot of them seem like newbies to me but they seem to have a grip on these forums...some of them maybe the originals just masquerading under different names.....its a conspiracy i tell ya.

my advice to all of you is to swallow your pride and take a job at a fast food restaurant.  They are ALWAYS looking to hire someone, for some shift.  Trust me, I used to work fast food for four years.  As long as your availability is good, they'll hire you.  And I think you've pretty much ruined your chances of getting a job at Toys r us, Grey ninja.  Undermining an employee really works against ya like that, especially if they're in good with the hiring manager.

Nintendo Gaming / Buying Sonic?
« on: May 31, 2003, 01:34:02 PM »
This is the Sonic I've always wanted for the Gamecube.  Finally, someone is giving the people what they want.  I was starting to lose faith in the entire industry because of the industry telling us what we want (heh hem.. wind waker anyone?)instead of actually giving us consumers what we want.  Its great.  I'm getting this, but not SAB3.

Of course SA2B was crap- your opinion must ring true for all of us, regardless of what we actually thought about the game. Besides, SA2B is Sega's bestselling game as a 3rd party yet, so it's not too smart to use it as an example.

Yeah it may have been their best-selling game but that's because it was their first sonic game for gamecube so for all of us nostalgists out there, we wanted it, also we had no warning, we didn't know how much it would suck.  However, I thought it would have been better than it was. And they still aren't planning on making a "new" sonic game, just crappy ports.
Crap does seem to sell well on the PS2, I don't know why.  Since I'm poor I have to be selective with what I buy, and I can guarantee that from my experience with SA2B, I probaly won't buy another sonic game for the cube anytime soon especially since they're all ports, and I'm sure most people feel the same.

How can they blame gamecube for poor sales when they've given us games like Sonic Adventure Battle 2 which was a piece of crap.  They should stop giving us ports and start making good games, well i'm mostly referring to the sonic series.  they've really let me down with the junk they've been turning out.

TalkBack / Nintendo Sales and Profits Fall Again
« on: May 23, 2003, 09:04:01 AM »
There is nothing wrong with lower proftis, just as long as there are profits.  However,  things are different this time.  The emphasis has always been on how well Nintendo has done compared to Sony and Microsoft since the new generation of consoles has come into being. Unfortunately now, with lower profit reports, the emphasis may be shifted to how well Nintendo is doing compared to itself, which, by most rights is what it should have been to begin with. This may very well lead to big promlems when investors see a decline in profits, it will trigger what is known as the snowball effect.  They will start selling their shares of Nintendo stock, which in turn, lowers Nintendo's worth, which in turn causes more investors to sell their stock, and so on.

I just hope Nintendo finds a way to turn more people on to the cube rather than targeting a specific genre.  The gaming industry is supposed to be the one shining light in this economic recession, but hopefully the reason profits have slumped for nintendo is because of the recession, and not an evaporating market base.

General Gaming / Anyone else think Nintendo had a lame show?
« on: May 20, 2003, 06:15:09 AM »
I wasn't really looking to be blown away, but I was hoping to at least be impressed.  From what I've seen, the show wasn't horrible, it just was....well, it just was.  It wasn't good or bad.  If there were a 5 star rating, it would have a 3.  I was surprised by tetra's trackers, but not pleased.  Someone said this already, but it is very gimmicky.  WW was already about tracking things down for the most part, which i hated.  So I know tetra's trackers isn't worth my time, and especially not 50 dollars.
I was pleased with Pikmin 2, and Mario Kart, DD but I already knew about them though. I guess the best part about this year's E3 is that nintendo posted direct feed movies of most the games shown at E3 on their website. And they are in Quicktime. Yey.

edit- my post was supposed to read "the show wasn't horrible"

I haven't been paying attention to the gaming industry at all for the past month.  I've kind of been sick, but I'm also losing interest but thats another story.  Anyway, i logged on here and just missed e3 back went and looked at all the coverage. my impressiom:  meh.  I wasn't impressed. I'm excited about some of the games but there is no way i'm gonna shell out 50 bucks for something like tetras trackers. a load of crap in my opinion.
