Matt only uses his favorites -- and his favorites are good.
Majora the Incineroar
The leader of the bunch. She's a fiery, no-nonsense warrior cat that helped me take out at least two captains in my trial journey. She also singlehandedly shut down one of the Elite Four's entire team for me. We chose each other when I moved to Alola, as if bonded by destiny.
Mr. Giggles the Golisopod
While I was chosen by Majora, Mr. Giggles initially wanted nothing to do with me. Every time he saw me, he would run into his hiding place faster than I could catch him. Unfortunately for him, he was not faster than a charging Tauros, which I called upon to catch him. What the cowardly Mr. Giggles didn't realize, though, is that I would soon teach him to understand the power that's inside. His evolution from a meek Wimpod into the powerhouse Golisopod he is today is a Cinderella story like no other.
Kitsune the Ninetales
Kitsune is the most beautiful Pokémon I've ever trained. And she knows it. She can be a fragile little fox in battle sometimes, especially against Fire-types, but she makes up for it by quickly striking down her foes with Ice Beam and Blizzard attacks. In the final battle of the game, I have her to thank personally for inflicting frozen status on my foe's most frustrating Pokémon.
Claus the Raichu
It took me an hour to find a damn Pichu in the grassy patches of the first city, but I'm glad I finally did. Claus is an Electric/Psychic surfer that provided several final blows and status effects to my enemies on our journey. I've used Raichu in previous games to destroy Water and Flying Pokémon, but adding the extra Psychic typing in the Alola region gave Claus an extra weapon: Psychic. This powerful special attack gave me what my team was lacking before: a way to crush the Fighting-types standing in my way.
Poochy the Lycanroc
There was a time that I considered switching Poochy out for another Pokémon, earlier in the game. I'm so glad that I didn't. Poochy's help was invaluable to my team. While he didn't benefit from a dual-typing like all my other Pokémon, he made up for it by specializing in one thing: quickly crushing his adversaries with a plethora of powerful Rock-type moves. He was particularly useful in my first battle against an Elite Four member that favored Flying-types.
Lil Mac the Crabominable
I knew immediately that Lil Mac was going to be a force to reckon with. Don't let his goofy looks fool you. His incredibly high physical attack power was responsible for bringing down much bigger Pokémon throughout our journey. Lil Mac also survived many attacks and situations that I thought he wouldn't. He lived up to his Punch-Out!!-inspired name in these fights, as the little fighter that just wouldn't give up.
