Mostly for Japan, but there's a bunch of potential Virtual Console candidates.

The game listing that showed Twilight Princess HD also revealed a large quantity of games for the Wii U Virtual Console as well.

Some of the game titles were translated, but a translation on the NeoGAF message board shows multiple games with Japan region tags and a few with European tags. Some of the games have already come out in other territories as well.

Per platform, the games are:

  • NES: The Adventures of Bayou Billy, Hogan's Alley, Wild Gunman, King's Knight
  • SNES: Darius Twin, Super Mario All-Stars, Wrecking Crew '98
  • GBA: Chu Chu Rocket!, Contra Advance, Drill Dozer, Game and Watch Gallery 4, Legend of the River King 3-5, Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney/Justice For All, Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon, Sonic Advance 2-3
  • DS: Kirby Mass Attack, Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks, Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney/Justice for All, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team, Pokémon Ranger, Super Mario 64 DS
  • Wii: Kirby's Epic Yarn, Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, Mario Strikers Charged, Mario Super Sluggers, Metroid Other M, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Super Paper Mario, Wario Land: Shake It

"Super Mario 64 DS"

Why?

I don't know how my first post got screwed up...

"Super Mario 64 DS"

Why?

Super Mario 64 DS has like 30 more stars and a bunch of fun mini games.

Not to mention it has improved graphics (which makes sense considering it came out 8 years after the original). The only way the original was superior was having a analog stick (though playing it on a 3DS helps). If the DS version actually does come out on Wii U, I would easily recommend buying that instead of the N64 version.

Nobody should play Mario 64 without an analog stick.

TOPHATANT123October 14, 2015

That's a decent list of titles, really would want The Last Story though. The only reason I didn't get Mario 64 is because I thought DS would soon follow, looks like I made the right call.

Chu Chu Rocket!  Drill Dozer!  Wario Land: Shake It!

Nice list of games right there. Although it's a shame that Chu Chu isn't getting a full new release - having online (or at least local wireless) multiplayer would be awesome.

Now if only we could get a digital download for Xenoblade. One of the few games I care about enough to re-buy digitally.

Epic Yarn is already up european Wii Us.

I really want to get several of GBA games (like Kuru-Kuru Kururin for example which is also up on PAL eShop) but i just refuse, i positively refuse to buy handheld games on Wii U.

kokumakerOctober 14, 2015

@azeke: Why? GBA games come out surprisingly well on the Wii U, as a matter of fact.

azekeOctober 14, 2015

Because i want to play these games as nature intended -- on a handheld ;)

MagicCow64October 14, 2015

Dang, maybe I'll finally get to play Drill Dozer. That puppy has been on my list for a long time.

I'll admit, while I prefer the Super Mario All Stars versions of the NES games, I'm surprised they're releasing that on virtual console.

No Radiant Dawn :(

I'm very interested in getting Wario Land: Shake It. And the button remapping on the Wii U VC would make the GBA version of Chu Chu Rocket actually playable.

No Sonic Advance 1?

Eh, if 2 and 3 are on there, it seems only logical.

Sonic Advance 1 was already released earlier this year in Japan.  NOA and NOE are both dragging their feet which makes no sense considering Sonic is more popular in the West then Japan.

Of course I wouldn't be surprised if they were both waiting until 2 and 3 got released so they can make a big deal out of it like they did with Mega Man, Castlevania and Donkey Kong Country series to release all the game at the same time or in the same month to ensure maximum coverage and make the fans more likely to buy all 3 at the same time.

Hopefully with Sega giving GBA more support means there's a chance we could get Genesis and Master System games added to the eShop as well.  Took a while for the N64 to eventually show up despite being on the Wii from day one so getting Sega systems back in the mix would be nice.

WahOctober 15, 2015

64 ds hell yeah!
it's Wario time!

TOPHATANT123October 19, 2015

Well Hogan's Alley and Wild Gunman were announced for Europe today, so if you were still skeptical about the list there you go. Looking back over the full list the biggest surprise is that toys to life Kamen Rider Wii U game is apparently coming to Europe.
