Nintendo to Distribute Celebrity Miis in Japan

Nintendo employees will be walking around delivering the Miis using Street Pass.

Throughout all of Japan's Golden Week, Nintendo employees will be walking around Tokyo, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo in order to distribute celebrity Miis with the 3DS. These Miis are special in that they wear special golden pants as opposed to what is found on a typical Mii character.

Nintendo has teamed up with Japanese talent management company Yoshimoto. Celebrities under management by Yoshimoto will have their Miis featured during this campaign. Nintendo employees will be placed in several train stations, though they won't be wearing anything that will indicate that they are part of the promotion.

This doesn't seem like an effective use of company time, having employees walk around to instigate Street Pass connections.

It certainly explains Pikmin 3, Motion Plus games, the 3DS launch lineup, and Xenoblade. An entire company full of employees just standing around waiting for someone to street pass their Miis.

What would be neat is if there were someway to "tag" these Mii's so that they'd travel from system to system with every Streetpass.

Famicomplicated should acquire a gold pants Mii.  Also I think this will be good press to get the 3DS word out.  Don't underestimate collectors.

why can't they do it here? not the same way but have best buy carry a special mii, gamestop, target, walmart etc.


imagine this: Go to KFC and under the counter a 3ds on sleep mode contains Colonel Sanders Mii. Colonel Sanders gives you a code you can use on kfc.com to get an online coupon you can print out . Nintendo gives KFC some money to start the process out and it helps get the word out. just an idea

That sounds ridiculous. Why not just have the coupon load onto the 3DS? Companies on Android/iPhone has been doing stuff like this for a while.
