For a minimal fee, players can export most Rock Band 2 songs to the third game.

Harmonix's John Drake confirms that Rock Band 3 will allow players to export songs from Rock Band 2 for a fee, similar to how Rock Band 2 allowed song export from Rock Band. The feature will work for all three console versions. Pricing and details have yet to be announced, but as before some songs may not be exportable due to licensing issues.

In addition to this, Drake explains that while regular songs will be priced at $2, content made for Rock Band 3's Pro Mode will probably be more expensive due to the songs featuring a lot more elements the team had to work on.

You couldn't export songs from Rock Band to Rock Band 2 with the Wii versions. Someone from Harmonix (on MTV's site answering questions from fans) said this was because it was a patch in the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 versions and Wii games can't be patched. I am glad they will have this feature available for Rock Band 3. Will they be able to import from the first game too to make up for this?

That was my first thought. We all know that won't be possible though, because... well, just because!

Now please, give me a way to disable whatever songs I want that come stock with the game. I really don't want to suffer through any more New Wave music in tour mode. :P

That feature would pretty much require an SD card, right? I know ripping Rock Band to Rock Band 2 was over a gig for 50+ songs on the 360.

Dunno how they are doing it, but disc import is an awesome feature and it's great that Wii gamers can now use it too. Hopefully I will be able to import both RB1 and RB2 songs into my X360 version of RB3.
