Players who complete a WiiWare-based survey will receive episode two of the Tales of Monkey Island series. UPDATE: Offer has ended due to popular demand.

Telltale Games will be offering players the chance to receive a free episode of the Tales of Monkey Island series, "Episode 2: The Siege of Spinner Cay", after participating in a survey regarding WiiWare. Once players complete it they will receive a message containing Telltale Games' Wii friend code. When the code is registered, the episode is then gifted to the player.

The offer is good for North American Wii owners, and will last a week. Click here for the survey page.

UPDATE: Due to the high demand for the offer, Telltale Games have reached their limit for free games and therefore have closed their survey.

Wow, the survey is closed already!

And I got extremely lucky. Just after writing this story I completed the survey. So I was this close to missing out.

Also, TellTales is onto something... Nintendo should also do similar things. Have people complete surveys and offer WiiWare or VC games.

I think Nintendo should offer WiiWare and Virtual Console games as rewards to Club Nintendo members. Wouldn't that actually be more cost-effective than the prizes they currently offer? The price of one NES game is probably what they spend on shipping each item...

Nintendo doesn't have any episodic games.  Telltale isn't giving away free games.  They're getting people to buy $40 worth of games they wouldn't otherwise buy!  I've heard there's one over-arching story in Monkey Island--unlike in Strongbad--so if you want to know what's going on in Episode 2 you'll have to buy Episode 1 at the very least.

True, but still, its an initiative to convince people to buy a game by offering one for free. It gets people's feet wet with the idea. I agree with Mop that offering free VC and WiiWare games as Club Nintendo rewards would be great.

Nintendo has said that the market for WiiWare games is limited and few people know that they can download games directly onto the console. If Nintendo did similar things like Telltale Games is doing with this maybe more people would be willing to give WiiWare a try.

This seems like a weird way of doing it.  Why couldn't they offer specific download codes like the World of Goo contest?  No friend codes required.

This way they can contact you on your Wii and let you know when a new episode is available for download or maybe even send you a post play survey somehow.

But i wish Nintendo would offer up VC/WiiWare/DSiWare games as Club Point Prizes. I would have probably spent most of my points already.

But then they have to deal with contacts on the Wii, and I guess they'd have to pay for their own game to gift it out, probably both reasons that this promo was so short.
