Series protagonists Rikimaru and Ayame return after Tenchu Z absence for more classic ninja action, exclusively on the Wii.

From Software announced last week that the latest entry to the Tenchu series would be making its way to Wii. Tenchu 4 will be developed by Acquire who developed the first two highly regarded mainline Tenchu series titles. Along with From Software and Acquire, UbiSoft will be distributing the title in America and Europe.

The game will use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, utilizing the Wii Remote for intuitive sword slashing. The game will also feature intuitive use of the Wii Remote's speaker and rumble features. It was also mentioned that this entry to the series will be different from prior iterations; however, the developers expect players to enjoy the new direction.

More details will be available in the fall at the Tokyo Games Show which will be held this year, October 9 to October 12. Tenchu 4 will release in Japan this year on October 23.

They're really trying hard after Resident Evil FOUR.

Lots of deat- er 4 going around.

This is an interesting surprise. The Tenchu series hasn't had much critical success, but I think there is a niche fanbase that keeps it alive?

Speaking of From Software, I would really like to see an Armored Core game for the Wii. And a for Answer would be fine too. Hell, I would be really happy with a competent port of Metal Wolf Chaos!

At least in Japan, there is a sizable fanbase that loves this series. I personally haven't played the originals, but the more recent outings have been less than stellar. I guess we'll have to see where this one goes. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy Ninja Gaiden Sigma on my shiny new PS3.

I've wanted Armored Core on a Nintendo system for at least 9 years now.
