Donkey Kong Racing

According to Nintendo's official UK magazine the main objective of Donkey Kong Racing is to train the animals to race! You collecting fruit and win prizes, and train your animal to race against other species. A slight switch from Diddy Kong Racing. Hopefully Space World will allow for a good preview!

In the newest edition of Uncle Tusk, the head of DKR's development has confirmed that the video shown at E3, while pre-rendered, was using the exact polygonal models and textures that will be in the final game.

Donkey Kong Racing looks to be an enhancement of everything you loved in DKR. This time, instead of go-karts and airplanes and hovercraft, the racers will get to the finish line via animals, such as Rhambi the Rhinocerus and Enguarde the Swordfish. Playable characters appear to include Donkey Kong himself, Diddy, Dixie, Kiddie, and Taj the magician. At its Pre-E3 2001 press conference, Nintendo showed footage of land racing, underwater racing, and air racing (through a forest...Return of the Jedi style). We're not sure if the new DKR will be playable at the show, but at the very least, we'll be studying the video footage carefully and getting more details. It should be noted that parts, but not all, of the DKR demo looked to be pre-rendered FMV, so it's very possible that the game isn't all that far into development.
