Sublime.
OH GOD YES
Wait a second, vocals? KARAOKE TIME?!?!?! Wii better get some DLC now.
Guitar Hero == Rock Band
Hm, now I'm not sure what to do. I was planning on sending back my copy of GH3 for a refund, but it might be better to hang onto it for a second guitar in GH4.

i keep gettting tempted to buy GH3 but now hearing this news i want to hold off. It'd be nice to have the second controller though (if i buy GH3 now) but i won't get the multiplayer going on too often so i might as well just wait and buy GH3 (disc only) for cheap...
This is going to be more of a trainwreck than previous installments.

I wonder how long those cymbal pads will last.
Needs more cowbell pads.
Needs more cowbell pads.
that'd be so awesome.

You can actually read the article in this pic:

Seriously now, with how gimped the Wii Rock Band is, Guitar Hero > Rock Band when it comes to Wii. (Or every system if this works out well)

F*ck why didnt i think of that :(

To me it depends on a few things: Neversoft's note charting which in some songs are flat out retarded, track list (if GH:On Tour is any indication I'll just wait for Rock Band 2 on 360). At this point why doesn't Activision call this Band Hero.
I also don't buy the hardware reliability Red Octane had issues with the explorers and the Les Pauls.
When Activision and EA became the two giants everyone talked about all the negative things that could come from it. This, in my opinion, is a good thing that's coming from it: two superpowers in an arms race, both making games in the same genre trying to one-up each other. This kind of competition could lead to higher quality games from both publishers, and I hope it continues.

BUT IT'S MONOPOLIES!!
Meh. The drums need to include double kick pedals. It's very easy to add double bass in Rock Band's drums (and probably in this too), but of course no songs actually support it. It would be nice to have the option...oh and Linkin Park and Sublime = fail, unless it's Smoke 2 Joints.

So... where's the higher quality? The gimped version of RockBand we're getting on the Wii? Or the buggy version of Guitar Hero III we got?
Meanwhile, we've got $50+ controllers we can't use with each other's games...

I was more talking about the future, but you're right, it does kind of fall apart when you just look at the Wii, though I doubt GH IV will have such a bug, so far it's looking pretty good.

It damn well better not. Isn't GH3 (wii version) the highest selling of them all? Even with the sound issies??? GH4 better be a from the ground-up affair, and let ps2 owners get a gimped, downgraded wii-port.
It sure would be nice if they just abandoned the PS2 already and instead focused on making the Wii version as good as possible. Granted, we won't be getting quite as horrible PS2-to-Wii treatment that Rock Band is handing out, but the game still won't take full advantage of the Wii. Why can't we get Xbox or GameCube ports instead? Heck, a Dreamcast port would probably show more technical prowess.
I thought they were going to add keyboards. Did I dream that?
I don't care if it's Guitar Hero, Rock Band, or a new game altogether, but I want a music game with keyboards! Sell me the peripheral!
Well I'm not getting either Rock Revolution or GHIV because theres simply no space for those instruments in my room and I am more than confident that Harmonix will deliver with Rock Band 2.
Harmonix can't even deliver with Rock Band 1. Besides, what makes you think that they'll be a sequel anytime soon? They seem pretty adamant about just releasing patches and DLC. Mind you, that is the way that genre should be. At least with a sequel like Guitar Hero IV you have plenty of reasons for its existence.

MTV games sending out a survey about what people feel about possible features for Rock Band 2?? Also Describe how they didn't deliver with rock band 1?
I think he's talking about them not delivering with their overpriced, underfeatured Wii version of Rock Band. If you're going to buy a rock-based rhythm game on the Wii this year, Activision seems to be the horse to bet on.
I bet there will be a Rock Band 2.
Around about November.
YOU SPIN ME RIGHT ROUND, BABY. RIGHT ROUND LIKE A RECORD, BABY. RIGHT ROUND. RIGHT ROUND. ROUND ROUND.
There's no need for a Rock Band 2, just keep releasing album and song packs and I'll be happy. Rock Band is already pure gold.
There may be no need for Rock Band 2, especially if they're not really adding much like it sounds like they're doing, but it's definitely happening. At the very least it gives them another chance to not screw over Wii owners, which they failed to do with the first one.
Well in the survey they asked for what features, online gameplay as such. If rock band 2 comes out I hope Rock Band 1's DLC is cross compatible.

that is until they actually confirm what features are going to be in the Wii version. We could end up getting screwed if its another Rock Band situation; all their real resources are put into making the PS360 versions, then we get a sloppy port

Look at the DLC on the other consoles for Guitar Hero vs Rock Band. The DLC for Guitar Hero pales in comparison to the Rock Band DLC. Guitar Hero barely releases anything.

not sure what this had to do with my post, but i'd wager that it might be because GH4 wants to release with a really robust set list. I know there are billions of songs out there to choose from but why would they "waste" a really good song on a GH3 dowload when they can include it on GH4 with guitar/bass/drums/vocals?
if they did release song X by band Y as a GH3 download now, and later used in in GH4 with all instruments, people would just complain that the set list sucks because they've already played that song before. Where as with RB they can get away with using songs that might of been on GH at one point becuase that games style of play is different than GH's due to the other instruments. Its a weird situation for GH4
(then again, my opinion can be called into question since i own neither of these games. just my two sense though)
You guys were just judging whether to bed on Rock Band 2 or Guitar Hero 4. I was just throwing in what I knew.
I was talking about Rock Band 1 on the Wii and Guitar Hero IV on the Wii. I think it's pretty safe to say that GH IV will be the better of the two, considering how bad Rock Band on the Wii is shaping up to be. As for DLC, I think it's going to a much bigger part of GH IV than it was in III.
Agreed. So far my money is on GH4. They obviously see theres a larg wii userbase thats into the series so they damn well better release a NON gimped GH4 on Wii on day one with the other two consoles.
GH has better music, so I'll probably pick this up first. I just hope their drums are better than Rock Bands (Or that I'm better at GH's drums, anyhow.), 'cause me and my friends can't even play Rock Band very much 'cause no one wants to "get stuck on the shitty drums."
drums are fun!

Yes and no Rock Band has more variety but if GH Aerosmith and GH: On Tour are any indication the track list is going to suffer in 4. And plus Bang Camaro, Freeze pop and Count Zero are always Harmonix exclusive since some Harmonix workers are in those bands.
The drums in Rock Band are fine if you bought Rock Band recently where they fixed most of the problems, the only problem the drums have loud is that the pedal will break(which will probably happen to the GH drums) and the drums are loud.
Why say "It'll probably happen to the GH drums"? That's pretty short sighted, since the controllers are being made and designed by two totally different companies. Did official Guitar Hero guitars ever have the problems that Rock Band Guitars shipped with?
I know that some Xplorer(GH2 360), Les Pauls(mainly the 360 model) had issues when they came out and a lot of the Kramer guitars(PS2 GH3) just out right malfunctioned. For Rockband some guitars had double strumming issues, drums had sensor issues but I recently got RockBand for the 360 (after the announcement of how gimped the Wii version is) and I don't have any problems with the Rock Band instruments.
What I meant about the GH4 drums is that it looks like the bass pedal is plastic which will break with a lot of wear and tear which should happen fast for hard and expert songs. And the little plastic necks that hold the two cymbal pads doesn't look very encouraging to me.
I be really surprised if the model of the drums in that article doesn't change, at least slightly, before the game's release. I'm sure they'll test their durability, and knowing that previous incarnations of these kinds of products have had problems will probably get them to make sure those specific problems don't happen.

I bet people won't be looking forward to the price tag for GH4 to me Rock Band price is excessive but I got it on sale for 140.00 which is a nice price for Rock Band on 360.
Well Gamestop.com put up the pricing tiers for GH: World Tour
Game only - 360/PS3 59.99 Wii/PS2 - 49.99
Game + Guitar - Wii/360/PS3 - 99.99 PS2 - 89.99
Game + Band Kit - Wii/360/PS3 189.99 PS2 - 179.99
LOL they had the balls to go higher then Rockband?
That's assuming those prices are real and not just GameStop estimates. Even if they are real, I think the price of the Wii version is more reasonable than the price of Wii Rock Band; it's $20 more but I would say it's got considerably more than $20 worth of features that Rock Band doesn't have on the Wii. Still pretty darn high though. Assuming they sell the instruments separately I may just buy the game and the drums and use my GH III guitar, and maybe buy the other stuff later.
If the price of the stand-alone Rock Band drums is any indication you won't save that much money.
Speaking of features that Rock Band doesn't have on the Wii, apparently GH4 will have DLC.

$50 plus $80 is $130, $60 savings off the $190 full price. I have no interest in vocals and I may buy another guitar but maybe not.

Wii GH4 DLC can be stored to internal memory or SD card, can be played directly from SD card
I demand more praise for Vicarious Visions. Damn Harmonix and their ability to steal sales from the superior product because of an earlier release. Activision needs to start advertising this immediately, playing up the DLC and compatibility with GH3 guitar.
Prediction:
Rock Band 2 will come out and have 1 or 2 new instruments. It will be released with several new songs but the big thing will be all the old songs will be created with these new instruments already incorporated.
The new instruments will be a Mini Keyboard with like 12-15 Keys to play...and Perhaps some sort of String Instrument like a Violin...which would be awesome for some songs.
But definitely at least adding the Mini Keyboard idea.
How do you do a keyboard with the standard 5-note system and have it not be stupidly easy and nothing at all like playing a keyboard? And while a violin would be cool to play, how exactly does it "rock"?
Maybe a keytar. Eheh.
Actually, for a keyboard game, you could have it so that there are, let's say, 20 keys, but it's the same 5 colors repeated 4 times. It'd work.
You mean going through the order so it's the five colors in order and then do that 3 more times? I guess that could work. It would introduce a freestyle element that none of the other instruments have, you could get fancy with your hands if you had the skill and you so desired.
Looking at the big preview IGN did recently this has become THE game I'm looking forward to this year. I haven't got Guitar Hero or Rock Band in any form yet but I've played it and like it. I don't want to get the gimped Wii version of Rock Band so this will probably be what I get provided they fully deliver on their promise to make the Wii version as close to the other verisons as possible.
The song creator mode is what is really grabbing my interest and the song selection seems a lot like the iTunes idea a lot of us were talking about. If they don't welch on these promises this looks like the best music game yet.
I wouldn't mind getting Guitar Hero 3 as well to get an extra guitar BUT I'm iffy because of that original mono disc problem. Are all the current games in store fixed?

Yes, the problem has been fixed for months. I'd be very surprised if you managed to find an old mono disc still in stores. If you're really worried, you can always ask the clerk when they received their copies that are currently on the shelf.
