IGN complains that the game is in some ways simplistic, while stating the complexity of the dual riders for strategy.
Complains about the lack of the hop even though it admits that the carts are heavier.
Complains about the lack of skins and costumes even while talking about the interesting new Kart sizes and multiple karts for each size.

They complain about the two players controlling one kart while forgetting that that is how real tandem racing works.
Heres and exact quote from them:
Quote
Double Dash!! is one of the most vivid, coloring-book bright titles we've seen on GameCube yet. You won't find any other title in the world that looks like it.
And then they go on to complain about how it doesn't look so great:
Quote
Double Dash!! only gets the job done. It's nothing to go drooling over or to prove to your friends that GameCube can perform technically, but it's also very easy on the eyes. It suffices.
Does that make sense to anyone? Isn't theat a contradiction?
It seems that a big gripe with them is the fact that their isn't any online play this is why I think they knocked the game down, they just wanted to play it online. It also seems to be a bash against it being too colorful and family-oriented, too much like a saturday morning cartoon...What are they smoking?!? Its a Mario game of course it looks like that!
