It's seemingly not a modern console if it can't play Skyrim natively, and now the Switch 2 is getting in on the action.

Bethesda has announced that the Skyrim Anniversary Collection - which includes a host of user-created tools from an official creator's club as well as the base game's expansion - is now available for purchase on Switch 2. The massive RPG first released in 2011 and was one of the first games announced for Switch at its 2016 reveal, launching in November 2017.

Previous owners of the Anniversary Collection DLC (released 28 September 2022 for Switch) will be able to upgrade to the Switch 2 version for no cost: otherwise the upgrade will cost the same $19.99 as the DLC costs now and includes those who own physical copies of Skyrim Switch.

I’d say a boycott over complicity in genocide is worth mention.

Personally, I think throwing that line in an article that has nothing to do with Microsoft's political involvements is tacky, unnecessary, and pandering. It's not like the internet is lacking in gaming websites obsessed with politics. Maybe this site can "not" join them, at least in pure news articles?

Bethesda is owned by Microsoft, and Microsoft is facing a general boycott for their actions. Therefore, buying Skyrim would not be in the interest of someone boycottting Microsoft.

I didn’t realize that wanting people to not-die was pandering, but I can sympathize trying to find a space where you can avoid feeling bad about the overwhelming amount of awfulness in the modern world. I do think you’re maybe looking in the wrong place if you’re searching for that space on the internet, though.

I read the talkback forum post first, so I was a bit confused by the original comment. It doesn’t feature there, so maybe that’s the alternative you’re looking for?
