No word on if Rita will be available after taking over the land of the dead in Fire Emblem Heroes.

As part of the series's 25th anniversary, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is getting a new cross-series fighting game.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is a 2D fighting game slated for Switch release in April, digitally for $19.99 US for the base edition. A Digital Deluxe package, containing three additional characters with story modes, will be $39.99.

Battle for the Grid will involve Rangers from across the series's history, with more simplistic special move controls. Online play will be available, and Switch players can also battle Xbox One and later Steam players (the PC version launches later).

I'll be honest, the fact they whored out JDF for the ad kinda kills my excitement for this.
That guy is such a douche.

The fact that they're clearly refusing assets from that terrible mobile game, Legacy Wars, I put way too much time into a few years back totally kills my excitement for this.

Yeah, I looked into this.  Not gonna bite.

From the history of a series with easily over 100 possible characters, we get confirmed versions of three characters from the first season, one character from a season that is only memorable because of how badly they screwed it up, and a quasi-original character from the comic books (which, admittedly, would be neat *if* it was in addition to the other 100+ possibilities).

The website shows 11 other slots (one of which would seemingly go towards the third Season One character confirmed but not shown on this page)... leading me to think this will either be a half-assed effort *or* a DLC money pit for a hundred quickly chopped together skins.

Plus, the fact it's digital only... Pass.  Just pass.

Here's also something worth noting about Legacy Wars, the mobile game this developer also made and whose assets are being re-used here: this developer doesn't give a damn about character balance when it comes to adding characters. In Legacy Wars, EVERY new microtransaction character (which you could outright buy for a large fee or have a chance at getting points towards unlock for smaller fees) was extremely overpowered. After a week or two, the devs would nerf them into oblivion and then bring out a new character. And so the cycle continued. You could not win matches by "getting good" with a character, and you just plain weren't winning unless you were using a "Rare" or "Legendary" character. It was Pay to Win in every respect.

After about a month or so of that, I gave up on Legacy Wars. I don't expect this game from the same developers with an extremely similar premise and setup to be any different.

So it's Jason, Tommy, edgy comic Tommy, Gia, and Doctor K right?

Because Doctor K is the most well developed and interesting character that the series has ever had so surely she's gonna make the cut right?
