Alas.  I am the fourth to reply.  Sort of.  Shameful, nonetheless.

Yeah, Rare's been gone a while.  Can't say I miss them (haven't done anything worthwhile since DK, aside from an average Star Fox game),  but many people like them, and Nintendo certainly needs support.  Too bad you liked them so much, but I hardly noticed they were gone.

I liked most of all of Rare's titles on the N64, though Star Fox Adventures disappointed me on length and gameplay, it was kinda cool. I always wanted to play Fox on foot...but not that way. Not to mention the puzzles were VERY generic. I doubt that people have to get around by borrowing Krystal's staff. Now with her gone from Dinosaur Planet, the dinosaurs can no longer get across places without that damned stick. If she did leave it there, they cant carry it.

Gotta love these damn chosen weapon things of saviorness.

I personally loved Rare- I'm a huge fan of British humor- but unfortunatly not too many other people agreed and Rare was taking forever to release games that didn't sell well. Nintendo decided not to renew their contract, the Stamper brothers put Rare up for sale, and Microsoft bought them for $175 million, I believe (a hefty price for a developer that wasn't doing too well saleswise).

Well I admit Rare did make some great games. But after seeing Star Fox Armada and comparing it with Dinosaur Planet, I got over my sadness.

I think Namco will do great in place of Rare. I know Banjo-Threeie would've been a great game but unfortunatly it is with X-box now

If I could I would post pictures of the game but I either cannot or do not know how.

Star Fox Armada Pose

I don't know if this will work or not but I tried

Anyway Namco will show us that it is as good as Rare if not better.

I don't even think Banjo-Threeie (call it what you will) was ever officially or unofficially announced to be in development.  Besides his cameo in the original Rare trailer for XBox, Banjo has not been mentioned or shown to be in development.  It would be a sad day if Microsoft saw this title too "kiddy" for their system because it would be the only reason I would buy an XBox, ever.

New, aren't you?

Star Fox 2 (I believe that's the real name) looks very cool indeed.  The multiplayer does, at least, and I hope the single player will be as awesome as it can be.

If MS deemed Banjo-Threeie too kiddy for the Xbox, they're not very consistent, because Grabbned by the Ghoulies was highlighted at E3 (which looks *horrible*, I'm sorry to say). However, I do think Rare or MS have officially recognized Banjo-Threeie as an XBox title.

Here's something NONE of you will believe
Oh and it's not Star Fox 2. Star Fox 2 would indicate a sequal to Dinosaur Planet. In a way it's more of a sequal to Star Fox 64. It has Air and Tank combat plus on foot combat. The graphics are sweet and the game looks amazing. But here's a familiar character that anyone who has played Dinosaur Planet will know for sure.

IGN has it labelled as Star Fox 2, as do many other game sites.  Armada, I believe, was a temporary title.

And Star Fox Adventures 2 would imply a sequel to Star Fox Adventures anyway.

the problem i see with rare now is that the games do not look as good as they have in the past
grabbed by ghoulies looks pretty bad- most have agreed to that
i was interested in kameo, but a lot of people are saying that it wasnt that much fun to play
the conker game is a good one, but one problem- its just the one on the n64 with new games for xbox live
personally i would love to see a new jet force gemini game- it was one of my favorite rare titles
banjo could be alright- i dont like collect-a-thons too much, but banjo always had good humor to go with the gameplay
perfect dark 0 seems to be the most anticipated rare title, but nothing is ever shown of it
i dont know how rare will do on the xbox- we shall see
i call the big one bitey.

Frudge that sucks, the main reason i bought the cube was that rare was working on cube games,
not on the 64 anymore, which is all i had.the other reason was because everyone had a cube XD.

Why did they make PD 0 anime style.  Very strange seeing that Xbox is supposed to be a mature system right.  Look at all the ridicule WW got over its cel shaded graphics.  Has anyone said anything about perfect dark...No...Will they later on in the future...No.  Whats up with that.

General foolishness.  There's nothing wrong with the game being in that style, but if they're going to complain about Wind Waker they should complain about this, too.  Or maybe Wind Waker just showed them how good a game like that can be.

I was a huge Rare fan back in the N64 days. Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Conker, Perfect Dark, 007, Diddy Kong Racing, Jet Force Gemini, Blast Corps, and Donkey Kong 64 are all part of my collection. There was a time I would have put them right up there with Nintendo as far as making entertaining games. When it became evident they were moving to the X-Box I was very disappointed.

However, to be honest, they have yet to show anything since then that has me wishing they were still with Nintendo. I did buy Star Fox Adventures for the Cube, their last Nintendo game. I'd rate it nothing better than average. It had some nice features but I didn't feel they all came together to make the game fun. I have paid attention to what they are doing on X-Box and from what I have read, it hasn't been much. They've only released one game in about the last 3 years (Star Fox) and most of their other projects are away off. Every E3 report I have read said all of their games were disappointing. Perfect Dark is still years away from the way it looks. The others just weren't that fun.

I don't miss Rare nearly as much as I thought I would but that tends to happen when the Cube still has more Rare games out than the X-Box. Maybe I'll be jealous later but I doubt it.

I will be very interested in their GBA games....if they ever release them.

I didn't really buy Cube for Rare.
Rare was an incentive, but since they've gone, well, live with it.
M$ bought Rare for the main reason of having console-specific games, but also to try and pull fans away from Nintendo, or give Nintendo fans more of a reason to get an Xbox as well.
It seems to be working.

I know some (or most?) of us will go "I can resist the tempatation! You will never get me Bill! Hahahaha!", but the truth is, some people think that Rare made Nintendo (the people handing their Gamecubes in for Xboxs). Not really. They got well known for Donkey Kong, so go figure. Nintendo made Rare. Remember how some people would shun Banjo and wait for Donkey Kong 64? I think Banjo was the superior game, but everything they did stemed from DOnkey Kong. Diddy Kong came from Donkey Kong. Banjo came from Diddy Kong. Conker came from Diddy Kong.

IMO, Retro Studios is Rareware 0.5, and Silicon Knights is Rareware Mark II.
Unless Nintendo buys Zoonami of course, in which case we have Rareware back again (technically).

Rare was good.  They done some outstanding works and pulled some nifty rabbits out of hats.  I was unhappy to see them leave for Microsoft, but they are still no Nintendo.  I must agree that Nintendo made them, though.  If they had not been partnered with and working with Nintendo all these years, perhaps instead developing for Sega in years gone by or for Sony, they would likely be nobody of any significance.  They got where they are by having worked with the best.
