What science thought was fact centuries ago isn't essentially true today.

There was no science centuries ago. You had no choice but to believe what the Church taught you, or else you were branded a heretic and perhaps even killed.

The earth has been proven to be round, we are not the center of the universe,

We know this thanks to science, which replaced superstitions. These established understandings are now known and aren't going to change anytime soon. Just like how we know those bones belonged to a giant ape and not to dragons as the Chinese once believed. Science is the reason we know this giant ape once existed, and this fact isn't changeable.

The universe is not infinite. It is very vast, but it has a finite size which we are able to measure.

New discoveries are made all the time, and science is constantly changing because of this.

Theories change, but science itself remains the same. The fact that those bones belonged to a giant ape isn't a theory, though. Its fact.

I haven't seen it in awhile, but I have watched it. Some of what they say I think deserves consideration, but they also make some claims which I think are pretty absurd. Do you watch it, Caterkiller?

I agree about it being finite, but we've yet to accurately measure it in terms of distance. We have theories and educated guesses, however.

What you just said means that science changes. Science is made up of conjectures, theories, absolute fact. If something changes, then science changes.

I'm talking about the scientific method. Our understanding of things can change, but the way science conducts itself in pursuit of this knowledge isn't going to change. Someone could use other methods, but if they do they are no longer practicing science.

Anyway, we're getting off topic. You do agree Gigantopithecus was a giant ape that existed 100,000 years ago, right Oblivion? Tendoboy is trying to say we can't believe what scientists tell us about bones.

According to the ancient Sumerians there was these aliens called the Anunaki who came down and created mankind by mixing their alien DNA with that of apes and that's how we came to be. According to the Sumerians the Anunaki needed Gold, so they used us as slave labor to mine it, then when the gold was depleted they left.

Not really. Why do you think its so valuable? And by "depleted" I think that meant the gold that was easily obtainable. There's still a good amount deep in the earth, but its not exactly easy to get to (even with advanced ancient alien technology). Basically, it either got to the point where it was no longer worth the effort, or the Ancient Aliens had managed to get all the gold they needed and decided to move on.

Whatever it is its a really huge number, but its not infinite. We know the universe is expanding, and has been expanding continually since the Big Bang. The fact we know its expanding should prove to you that its finite, because if it were truly infinite it would be of infinite size and wouldn't be capable of expanding like it is.

Speaking of the Andes, did anyone see that episode of Ancient Aliens where they talked about the Nazca lines and how there is a mountain where the whole summit of it was cleanly shaved off to make it flat like an aircraft runway? I thought that was pretty interesting. You could just say it was the natives who flattened the mountain like that, but why would they? It doesn't seem like it would be an easy thing to do just for no reason. If it was to make a runway for spaceships to take off and land, then that would be a reason.

And those Nazca drawing things. You can only see them from the air looking down. So they were obviously intended to be seen by someone who was capable of flight.

The current theory is that space doesn't have an edge, it loops back on itself. So if you were somehow able to get to the barrier of known space, you would simply wind up back in the same space (like driving in a circle).

In addition to what TJ said, the universe is expanding at the speed of light so in order to reach the edge of it you would have to travel FASTER than the speed of light, which is impossible.

Wrong. The distance between objects in space is growing. The objects don't actually get bigger with the universe.
