We have a new (Console) Challenger!
« on: October 24, 2011, 09:01:17 PM »
Prepare yourself for the iSec!

It a Chinese Wunderkind motion controlled console formally known as the artist named eBox, that is not a videogames player. It's a "Home Entertainment System.". Sold for 3,000 yuan ($470), even the American dog will balk at the dollar to value ratio!

Comes in Blood Red, Pale White, and Blacktastic Black that Black n Mild would appreciate.

In China, iSecs you! Coming to China this Christmas.
I'm Lacus. I'm fine as Lacus!
Pffh. Toilet paper? What do you think cats are for?

It kinda looks like the casing for a Wii and a PS3 went though some Fusion and then they through in a Kinect for good measure. Looks they got everything covered except the software... and maybe a controller with some actual buttons and stuff

pre-post edit:
Looks like it may have a controller and games after all
Quote
“[ISEC] can not have great graphics of the game, or a large amount of violence, but it may inspire family members to the couch and exercise,” says Luo. The console is expected that about 30 free games, when it finally arrives this year, and those titles will play with the built-in motion sensor technology similar to Kinect's.

So a PS3 looking Wii that comes with a remote and a Kinect.
Also focuses on motion controlled games, and more specifically Sports related games...
Yep. All bases covered.

Doesn't hurt that the initial 30 games are free.

post-post edit:
Forgot that they also changed the name to have a lowercase i in it to appeal the iPod/Phone/Pad crowd, so they truly have covered just about everything they could.

This console is what would happen if the Wii, 360, and PS3 were being transported on star trek and there was some sort of freak accident which caused all of them to be fused together, as what happened on an episode of Voyager when Tuvok and Neelix fused together.

So it will play pirated Roms for all Three.  Perfect for the Chinese Market.

Indeed.

If this actually makes it to the States, I'd be interested in trying it out. I've always said, the more competition the better.

By design it is only capable of Wii-like graphics at best.

The article makes it sound like some Chinese law they are abiding by. So for the price, it better be doing something amazing with that motion camera... although a lot of that cost is probably for the 30 included games.

It's all making sense now!

Coincidentally, "Pump and Dump" will now be the name of my first homemade 3D porno as soon as the 3DS system update enables video.
