It looks like it's going to be a long year for Nintendo fans if you don't own a 3DS. Interesting way to try to get people to buy one: completely gut the other Nintendo gaming product.
Yeah, I'm in that boat. The Wii is more or less completely abandoned.
Wii U is a stupid name but that probably won't matter. But I'm not impressed. Nintendo didn't sell me on it. The only stuff they showed was the usual Wii Sports kind of bullshit and a Zelda game that might just be a video or I wouldn't be surprised if it was a remake of Skyward Sword and they have not revealed it as such so that we suckers buy it for the Wii and then go out and buy it again a year later on the Wii U.
They're getting better third party support so there's that. But that isn't enough since I have a PS3 and all those games will be on that system and I'm already comfortable with that controller. This screen controller looks unusable due to the ergonomics of it. I can't imagine playing games on it for any length of time without it being incredibly uncomfortable. They need to show something that demonstrates that the Wii U is a must buy and that having a giant screen on a controller that looks ridiculously uncomfortable and probably costs $100 is worthwhile. Playing games without using a TV isn't enough.
What I've realize though is that it's the same bullshit from Nintendo that has turned me off them in the first place. Lots of casual **** and lots of sequels. The 3DS had the best showing but it's the same old ****. There's nothing new. Nothing offering a new experience I have not already played before. If I like a game, I like getting sequels to it but that's ALL Nintendo makes these days. The Wii never surprised me (in a good way). Nintendo has become formulaic.
I do want to know about Wii U though. What are the specs or are we playing the "hide the specs" game again because the real specs are embarrassing and won't cut it against the competition? What is the price? How much does one of those controllers cost?
It's a weak E3 because there is nothing for the Wii and they didn't reveal much of ANYTHING on the Wii U. Usually there is either nothing for the old system and tons for the new or the new one is just revealed and the focus remains on the old one. But here? It's like Nintendo is taking a year off from the console game. Well that's nice Nintendo. I'll just give Sony my money while you **** around.
