... Then they should hire a team to port over the two Mario Kart Arcade GP games. Any reason why they haven't done this yet? The games are already developed, there's definite interest in Mario Kart and it would surely sell pretty well. Is this just another example of Nintendo not doing something that makes sense or is there a legit reason for not doing this?

Nintendo has been restricive on Mario Kart, limiting it to one Mario Kart per hardware generation.

And the fact that Mario Kart Wii is still selling well, as is WiiFit & Wii Sports Resort.

They need to bring all the games that have not come this way yet like The Last Story and Xenoblade.
Get Tecmo to fix Fatal Frame 4 (pay them bonus upon completion and another one depending on sales <minus completion bonus>)
Disaster: Day of Crisis (might not be the most appropriate game for the moment though)

and sooo many other games that never left Japan.
They have plenty to release on Wii this year and they've even said that they have games that haven't even been announced yet and Reggie says some are gonna be announced (& released?) before E3.

The games probably aren't actually very good outside of their arcade environment. Actually, even in their arcade environment (judging by the first one, which I played).

Yeah.  It wasn't a very enjoyable experience.  It felt like a cheap arcade racer experience with a handful of random-ish attack items.  They only had a few tracks that looked pretty generic, too, from what I recall.  I never played the second one, either, but I believe they did bring those to Disney World, where I played the first, too.

Being a guy that has gone to Disney World over twenty times in my life, I've seen both GP games in the various arcades spread throughout the parks. They suck. Horrible items, lame tracks, and Namco characters. Nuff said.

Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

It's all a matter of opinion. I know I said I hated them, it's good that you have your own opinion and like them. :)

If the games really were bad then I could see why Nintendo would want to distance themselves from them but they did make a sequel so they must have thought there was something of value there. To not release it because they have a strict one Mario Kart per console policy seems ridiculous. Put both games on one disc, clean it up and tweak it and they've got another 10 million+ seller on their hands. If not, it would make an awesome downloadable game for the Super Wii. Surely I can't be the only one who wants to pay through these games?

Well, I'm not sure how much input Nintendo actually had in the games. It would be nice for a future Virtual Console or something.

I'd buy a compilation of the two arcade Mario Kart games, especially if it were available at the New Play Control! pricepoint of $30. I've never played either game so it would be nice to try them out.

I don't know why the graphics matter since that has never been the series strong suit, but I also want a Mario Party 9. I still play MP8 on occasion with my sister, but the game was clearly held back since it first started development as a GameCube game. Especially with the Motion Plus out there now, there's still a lot of potential for this series; MP8 didn't even incorporate the Nunchuk, so even adding that would go a long way.

They could just include the Mario Party characters in with the next Wii Party game. That way you could use either Miis or those characters depending on your preference and it would all be in one game. At this point I have doubts about there ever being another Mario Party game because Nintendo seems to be pushing the Wii series of stuff these days, so the games that used to use Mario characters seem to have been swept aside.

No! Then it would still have the bland game boards and minigame themes. It should be more like Mario Kart Wii, where the Miis are just a character with multiple outfits to choose from.

The problem with this topic is the whole premise: Nintendo's not "struggling" to find games to publish on the Wii this year.  Reggie's already stated they're flat-out ignoring the Wii this year and focusing on Pokemon and 3DS, and so have "pushed back" certain Wii projects.  Nintendo knows full well that they have games they could bring over here.  They just don't care.

I think we may want to wait until after E3 to claim Nintendo's ignoring the Wii. We didn't learn about most of the major releases in the second half of last year until E3.

That's like a parent having two kids and then letting the older kid starve to death because they just had a new born and want to focus everything on that. If you can't take care of two kids then you should either only have one kid or not be a parent at all.

While Reggie did basically say that (kind of, but not for the whole year), he also said that they will have more "content" before E3 and definitely at E3.

Doesn't Nintendo have an investors meeting again at the end of this month? We might hear some new stuff from there.

This is absolutely true. For better or worse, Nintendo is able to do, and, as a general rule, does, whatever it feels like doing.

I guess we haven't made any announcements recently because we've been concentrating on the 3DS launch, but there are still lots of games to come. I'm sure you'll see at this year's E3. For anybody who has a Wii, they can rest assured that we'll be bringing some fantastic new experiences to them."

The release chart on the front page has ONE ENTRY on it right now, but we haven't had the Q2 announcements yet as far as I know.

It's a shame because there's been decently big to frakking huge releases the last two Mays (Punch Out in '09 and Mario Galaxy 2 last year), but anything they announce now is going to end up Excitebot'd.
