Worries arise for an age rating of 12 given to the adult party game.

Ubisoft's upcoming risqué title We Dare has been given an age rating of 12+, in spite of the fact that the game is intended for mature players. The game is heading for Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3 later this month and is once again causing a stir.

The game features activities such as kissing dangling Wii Remotes in pairs and spanking other players. According to an Ubisoft spokesperson, the rating was applied by the Pan-European Game Information ratings body (PEGI), who act independently to the publishers' own recommendations. Separately, Ubisoft have issued a ‘Parental Discretion Advised’ sticker to the game in order to ensure that parents are informed of the potential sensitive nature of the game content.

A series of suggestive YouTube commercials for the game were recently restricted to viewers in PAL (Europe and Australia) territories, and an American release of the game is absolutely not happening.

Meh. Looks pretty harmless to me. No worse than playing spin the bottle. I doubt many twelves year olds would be too interested in this anyway... anyone older (and interested) is probably already doing far "worse" things. This game is designed for bored adults, who want a little "spice" in their otherwise dull lives.

Yep, there seems to be some kind of striptease race from what the site images suggest.

The game looks fairly harmless to me, but with an age rating like that it's just inviting angry parents to come out of the woodwork and complain. Why give them another easy shot when games are being censored and banned left right and center to begin with?

You mean the commercial featured those activities. I didn't see anything in the gameplay itself (at least what was shown) that would require kissing and spanking. It's just like golf and baseball in Wii Sports, how many people actually play like the commercials and promo pics, and how many people just flick their wrists?

This looks absolutely ridiculous and not in a good way. If you and a friend have two chicks over, why would you want to play a videogame?

Pre-EDIT: On second thought, my freshmen year a friend and I got wasted with a couple chicks as we played Mario Party. That was a good night.

Still, I think my point still stands. You don't need a game to entice sexual situations.

Besides the youtube trailers actually showing the on-screen avatars performing the actions that the people were doing, you mean?
It's still a little naive to say that though, don't you think? There are adult board games that feature the same kind of content as this and they seem to sell okay - otherwise this questionable game wouldn't have come to fruition. I can see drunk partygoers actually playing this game the way it's intended, sadly.

Nonetheless, there's no way that I'm going to put my mouth anywhere near a remote that, minutes ago, was between some guy's butt-cheeks.

I am 100% certain that if they removed all the women from this game it wouldn't have been made for fear of the controversy it would make.

This seems only geared for "normal" use, but even still i can't help but LOL at what his game is trying to do and the hilarity in that this approach is somehow less controversial.

But it is still an easy way to innocently & indirectly set up the mood.

Imagine this:
You and your friend who has been having bad luck lately, paired up with your girl and her friend. Come back from sort of setup for them where they have got along but or some reason haven't "clicked" yet and neither of them have made that first move.
In an effort to make this happen, you take them back to your place and pour a couple of drinks. You all are converstaing, but things aren't moving fast enough between them and you want "go to bed" pretty soon.
So you turn this game on. You don't need it to get things started, but it puts the other 2 in a position to get comfortable with being in each others close and personal space. Of course they have to be willing to actually play the game the way the commercial suggest it to be played, but that could be the icebreaker that leads to more "hands-on" communication between the two. or a threesome between you, your girl and her friend if your friend can't close the deal

If I were to come back to my place with a couple chicks and my friend, I would throw on some merengue music and get to dancing. Or simply bail and let my friend work it out himself. The last thing on my mind is turning on the TV.

I'm not. I'm just looking at it objectively.

Based on how Ubisoft is advertising it, you might expect a higher rating.
Based on how you actually play it, its probably alot tamer than we all think.

If you own this game, you are likely gonna want to play it at some point. And seeing how the game is supposed to be played, it's like an adults version of Truth or Dare and Spin the Bottle. Mix play time with a few drinks(& other party favors), some heavy flirtation and a little bit of peer pressure, then you might have some fun that leads to other things away from the TV.

The whole point of this game is to get the girls to play with your Wii, and I can't hate on that

I wouldn't buy it regardless of how it was marketed.

If I do buy the mini-game games, it's usually for my mom to play, and this game is not the type of game I want to give my mom.
