One level I couldn't go more than an inch before getting one-hit killed by a sniper.

I have that same problem when I play Black Ops multiplayer on the map "Array".

I found Bounty Hunter to be a fun 3rd person game set in the Star Wars universe, and you get to play as Bubba Fett (or is it the other one? I don't remember).

Haha, I guess he's the redneck brother of Boba Fett?

It's the best version of the game. It uses the old school RE controls, but other than that it is a great game (or at least it was when it launched, I haven't played it since then).

After playing Resident Evil 4, I couldn't go back to the older control style of games. I tried playing Resident Evil 0, but I couldn't make myself do it.

If you can do it, go for it... but classic RE has been ruined for me.

Skies of Arcadia Legends Kytim. Very fun to play through. Not as much replay value as Tales of Symphonia but it still has a good amount. You have Airship battles and lots of exploration.Great Music too.

Oh also the X-men Legends games are fun.I've only played the second game. Its like Gauntlet but with X-men characters. You can level up and get better stats and customize your characters. The secondone is the better one as it has a better roster of characters and it has multiplayer where anybody can jump in at anytime. Has lots of cool cheats too.

Pikmin 2 remains the Gamecube's ultimate gem.  It's really odd that they never released the NPC version here in North America when of all the NPC games that one was by far the most obscure and the one most in need of a re-relesae.  A lot of people missed it the first time around and so it has become the holy grail title for the Cube.

Ikaruga used to have a similar status but it is now on XBLA so it is easy to get for modern consoles.  The game is still a must-own but you don't have to hunt for a rare Cube disc to get it thankfully.

Zelda: Four Swords Adventure is such a charming and enjoyable title.  Ideally you want to play this with friends with GBAs.  Obtaining the equipment for this today would be a huge ordeal unfortunately (hell it was a huge ordeal THEN).  But the game honestly works well as a single player title as well.  Played solo it's a linear level-based 2D Zelda game.  In theory that sounds blasphemous but it actually works really well.  2D Zelda gameplay surprisingly works well in a level-based design.  I would never want them to make the main Zelda series play like that but as one-off diversion it's lots of fun.

I'm really hoping Four Swords gets a Wii/3DS remake for the Zelda 25th Anniversary.

I don't remember if the 3DS has bluetooth or not, but wireless connection for the handheld would really help. I'm actually really surprised they never did it for DS considering everyone and their momma owned atleast 1 DS and a Wii.  Getting 4 players on 4 Swords would have never been easier, and that could have led to a Wiimake of FFCC too since most people never played either of those games due to the ridiculous requirements needed to play.

I would be really surprised if it didn't, because Bluetooth would be needed in order for the 3DS to communicate with the Wii/Wii 2.

A DS/Wii remake of Four Swords would have been such an obvious brilliant idea.  That's probably why Nintendo never did it.  Obvious brilliant ideas soar over their heads.  With Nintendo the truly brilliant ideas are the ones that come out of nowhere.  They're the outside-the-box megabrilliant ideas that no one else thinks of.  Nintendo's ideas are only obvious when they're obviously stupid and everyone but Nintendo knows they're going to fail.  They're a company of extremes, either geniuses or drooling idiots but never in between.

I rank Other M under "drooling idiots".

But on the topic of Gamecube games Mertroid Prime 1 & 2 are obvious two of the best titles on the system.  A lot of praise has been made regarding MP Trilogy for the Wii.  The thing is it is not quite perfect enough to completely make the original Cube versions irrelevant.  Resident Evil 4 is a good example of Wii-make that replaces the original.  The important thing it that it doesn't JUST have the Wii pointer controls.  It also has the original controls.  So it's the same plus more.  You've got everything you could ever want in the Wii version.  But with Metroid Prime Trilogy there is no option to play with the original controls.  So now it becomes a judgement call regarding what control option you want to use.

I never had a problem with Metroid Prime's controls.  They're like Zelda's which makes sense because Metroid is pretty much the same genre but from a different perspective (top view vs. side view, third person vs. first person).  The only problem I ever had with the controls was the last boss of MP2 which rather stupidly seemed to require completely different controls than the rest of the game.  It isn't an FPS so it doesn't have to control like an FPS.  I think a lot of the flack that Metroid Prime ever got for its controls were from people that could not see past the FPS similarities.  It's in first person so it HAS to be an FPS.  That sort of close-minded bullshit is why we got crap like Metroid Prime: Hunters.

I find games usually work best in their original design.  Metroid Prime 1 & 2 were never designed for FPS style controls.  They were designed for those lock-on Zelda style controls and I suggest that the unintiated introduce themselves to it the way it was meant to be played.  Same with Twilight Princess.  The Gamecube version is the real version with no tacked on waggle bullshit.

Nintendo are drooling idiots for not having the obvious and brilliant idea of remaking a Gamecube game.

I think I know who the drooling idiot is.

Not only that but the Wii edition of RE4 is the definitive version because it combines the better graphics of the Gamecube version with the extra content of the PS2 edition. If you had the GC version you had better graphics but missing content; and if you had the PS2 version it was the other way around. But the Wii has both that content plus the better graphics. The motion controls are also a nice touch, but it would still be the definitive version even if you disregard that.

The Hobbit is a terribly underrated game. It plays similar to a more linear Zelda with platforming elements. It looks great and the art style is very fitting for the tone of the book I think. I loved it.

I loved this game, but I'm sort of a Hobbit-head.  The music is pretty awesome as well.  I requested it once for a Radio Trivia episode.

Hobbit is a classic. I grew up listening to my dad read it to me at night. I wish the game had gotten some more exposure.

I blame it on a number of things: I don't recall Vivendi Universal Games (the publisher) doing much, if any, advertising. Since they own had rights to the books, they were not allowed to use any of the stuff from the LOTR movies. Finally, The Hobbit is just not as popular overall when compared to the LOTR trilogy (whether it is better or not is up to debate, I never read any of them). It got good reviews though, so I wish it would have sold better based on that.

I am now playing Second Sight and I have to say that this game is pretty good so far. The psychic powers would have been better accomodated with Wii motion controls in mind, but overall, not a bad game. The graphics are pretty good for a Gamecube game and it was developed by Free Radical, which is always a plus for me.

Why did the Gamecube sell so poorly if it had this assortment of good games?

Why did the Gamecube sell so poorly if it had this assortment of good games?

Because the PS2 had a larger quantity of good games, especially in the RPG genre, and it got ports of most of the good 3rd party games the GameCube had (even if the ports were noticeably inferior, as in the case of RE4).  Yeah, I said it.  I loved my GameCube, but as an RPG fan I was in gaming nirvana when I finally broke down and picked up a PS2 a few years back.
