Well that sucks. Sometimes changing something that is simple yet well made is not a great idea.
One of my favorite places to eat here in Arizona is Chile Pepper/Mr. G's which is a local Yuma only chain. But it's an award winning place. The Bean and Cheese burrito is simple, but it is just well made.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/destinations/2012/12/18/the-best-burritos-in-america/1778287/I used to get cravings for this place when I lived in Tucson.
But back to Wendy's. You're right. Wendy's burgers should not be greasy. They're pretty well drained by the time you get them. As far as the Baconator goes. The Baconator when I worked there was just a double with bacon on it. The way we would make bake was in a Food safe probably polypropylene container in a microwave. It looked sort of like a plastic shoe box. It was greasy as hell.
I got a Jr Bacon Cheeseburger a year ago. Something seemed different at that point. The patty seemed taller yet with a smaller circumference. Previously a jbc was just a single 8th pound patty with 2 slices of bacon.
But you know what I really miss? The Jalepeño bacon cheddar melt. That was awesome. Whichever version they had when I was working there was great. I used to eat that on my break.
Another thing to note is that article about the change is from 2011. They may have vacillated between burgers over the years.
I used to work at Pizza Hut too, but I got nothing great to say about them. They haven't been good in years. When I eat pizza lately I eat at local chains.
