Some Ideas for GTA wii
« on: May 24, 2010, 01:27:26 AM »
As you all know I am a avid GTA fan. I have played and beaten all of the games for the exception of the GTA 4 and its DLC episodes. However, I do not have a HD console at the moment and the only way to enjoy the series is to replay the old games, which is something I have done to death. I would really like to see a GTA game for the wii. So, I took a bunch of notes on what I want from the game and hope to share them with everyone on this forum.

The game would take place in a GTA rendition of Chicago called Angler City that Borders on Lake Carcer. The name Angler refers to the shipping and fishing industry of the city. Fro example, SEars Tower would be called Roebuck Tower for thi game.

The story would involve a crime lord who is betrayed and framed for murder by one of his underlings. While avoiding the authorities he has to find a way to reclaim his stabding among the crime lords of Angler City. All the while he is being pursued either by police detective or FIB detective named John Marshall for what ever murder he is framed for doing. On a side note, the main character could watch TV in his safe house and witness a speciel report by Weazel News that is a spoof of America's Most Wanted that features the main character.

As for the weapon system, I imagine Rockstar marrying the weapon system of RE4's over the shoulder mechanics with something like that of the older GTA titles.

I do not see how Rockstar could falter in the graphics department. The wii is not a graphical powerhouse, but with such games as Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Fragile, No More Heroes 2, RE 4, Dead Space Extraction, Monster Hunter 3 among others shows that good games with good textures and lighting effects could be possible on the wii. It would not be HD, but it would most likely be nice to look at.

As for the controls, I mentioned before about the over-the-shoulder perspective of RE4 for the weapons, well how about the controls? You basically control your character th same was Travis Touchdown or Leon Kennedy. I could see Rockstar implementing motion plus controls for the game to make it stand out amongst all of the GTA clones on the wii. However, since the classic controller pro does look like a dual shock controller, Rockstar should allow the ability to use the controller in the game beside the wiimote for GTA purists.

Now that you mention it I did have a topic like this before, but I totally forgot about it for some reason.

im a big GTA fan, but i think the series has grown stale...so it coming to Wii wouldn't have much of an effect, other than when people say Wii is kiddie I could say "you know grand theft auto is on Wii", which 5 years ago would have been "oh", and now people would say "yeah, but grand theft auto sucks"

Why don't you send your GTA suggestions to Rockstar? A Nintendo fansite is pretty much the last place on Earth Rockstar would ever visit, so the odds of them hearing your suggestions here are slim to nil.

I mean, you can post them here if you want and that's perfectly in your right. I'm just politely pointing out to you that its kinda a waste of your time if no one who has the power to make it happen is around to hear it.

I guess it's resonable to suggest that Rockstar would take into account game ideas from some random kid.

Some people say that the GTA series is becoming stale, but I beg to differ. The series is still very appealing to me and I like the idea of it being on the wii for some reason. The other day I was thinking about how Rockstar is dragging its feet about bringing a GTA game to the wii.

As for my ideas, I just wished to share them with all of you and hear your input. I see Rockstar slapping me with a lawsuit if I were to show up at their door with something like this and I just thought it would be a way for me share what I want from the GTA for wii if it were to happen.

I would bet my last dollar that GTA wii will be announced at this years E3 and will release this winter or early 2011.

Imagine Drive bys turning into rail shooter segments.

Kytim, have you ever played Godfather for the Wii? If you haven't I suggest you check it out. It is a very excellent GTA style game and it makes great use of the motion controls.

Yes I have heared about it and plan to buy it, but I want Rockstar to produce a GTA game for the wii. All of these other GTA wii clones are good, but I have read the reviews and they were in the 7.5 range. Chinatown wars got scores in the 9 range and this is why I want a GTA wii game because of the quality that Rockstar would put into the game.

The biggest question I have is could Rockstar cram a weapon and control system of RE4 with the 3rd person control of such games as NMH 2 into a giant city and make it work on the wii.

The main games are made by Rockstar North. The PSP/DS ones were co-developed by other studios (Rockstar Leeds worked on Liberty City Stories).

Hmm well I came across this earlier.

http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=124688

Rockstar North has a few job openings for games for the DS and Wii. Now before everybody starts proclaiming that GTA is heading to Wii I want to say that this could just Rockstar replacing some employees and doesn't have to do with GTA heading to Wii.

Has Rockstar North released any games themselves on the Wii and DS?

None on Wii (they oversaw Manhunt 2, but Rockstar Toronto did the actual development). They did work on Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for DS, although apparently most development was done by Rockstar Leeds. So they have not done anything themselves for Wii or DS. They have not had any involvement at all with other Wii or DS games.

Rockstar Leeds or some other studio will most likely develop GTA wii while Rockstar North is definently working on the next GTA HD installment(I do not call it GTA 5). GTA wii is coming, but it is just a matter of time. I mean BnM believes that Netflix will be available for the 3DS because of the DS brand has such a large install base. The wii has a large install base and Rockstar will try to capitalize on it with GTA wii.

Here are some the gangs that inhabit Angler City:

Angels of Death
Lost Biker Club
Gangster Apostles
Spanish Lords

I liked Godfather Wii edition better than any GTA game I've ever played, though granted I've never played GTA IV so I can't comment on that. Godfather came out on other systems such as the PS2 and PSP, but the Wii edition is the best by far and I don't know if reviewers gave it a 7 or whatever, but I would give it a 9 easily.

I watched some videos about the game on youtube and was very impressed. Impressed enough to buy the game when I get some cash. However, the graphics seem to b early wii quality and want a GTA game mainly because of the graphical quality of some the recent games such as Monster Hunter 3 and Shattered Memories to just name a few. I appreciate you recommending the game the game to me though.

Another idea would be a radio and TV station advertising clothing made out of hemp. The commercial hints that people are actually smoking the clothing rather than weraing it. One guy cliams that it is twenty below zero and he is freezing because he smoked his clothing. ;D ;)

Porting GTA IV would be a pain, porting the other GTA games is more likely...but those games are old. It will go from the Wii is kiddie debate to the Wii looks like ass debate.

Rockstar developing the game from scratch, or the ground up seems more logical. As for porting the older games, I have beaten them to death and in some way the wii is a current generation system so if a GTA wii were to come out it would be set in the GTA 4 universe. One reason Rockstar may not be developing the game is the various other GTA clones on the system, but motion plus controls could make the trhe different from all the other games. A GTA 4 port to the wii would be much worse than that of Dead Rising and we all know how that turned out.

If the Wii were going to get ports of any of the last gen games they would have come out by now, and any hopes of a Wii-specific installment died along with the sales of Chinatown Wars. This just isn't going to happen.

Sales of the DS game increased overtime, and have certainly been higher than the PSP port.

The DS ggames sales were slow, but paid off in the long run. Rockstar just has to have patience with the sales of the game. A game out selling its port on a non-Nintendo console says enough that a wii GTA could be viable, but it is a matter of timing. With all of the other quality third party games coming out on the wii Rockstar could make this game ver speciel.
