Toy Story 3. Amazing. Sentimental but not grossly overdone. I thought Pixar's last 2 films, Wall*E and Up, were more emotionally resonant. Especially Up. I almost turned the movie off when Ellie died in the beginning. Still, Toy Story 3 definitely had moments that melted my heart. Anyway, the ending was predictable. As soon as Bonnie showed up, I turned to my brother and told him I knew what was going to happen. Still, predictable doesn't necessarily mean bad. Most of the time it does, but on a few rare occasions, it works because it was the only logical way to go. I couldn't think of a better way to end the movie or the series. The attic is worse than the toy box. Sure, they don't get thrown away, but they're forgotten and maybe Andy's kids plays with them in like 15-20 years. The daycare, specifically the Butterfly Room, isn't ideal either. They're never outgrown, but they never get the same attachment that they had with Andy. Bonnie inheriting the toys and playing with them give them want they wanted, even if it's ultimately short-lived. Andy playing with his toys one last time before giving them to Bonnie was a fitting, bittersweet end. Sure, they'll have to go through all of that again when Bonnie gets older, but for the purposes of ending the series, the ending they went with was absolutely perfect. I loved this movie. My favorite of the 3.
