Cutler's a smart dude, a bit over emotional at times, but he's young and smart.  I'm guessing Smith and Turner will be very flexible with their O scheme in order to adapt to Jay considering it wasn't all that great last year with Orton.  But at the end of the day, we now have a QB that can actually get the ball ahead of Hester WAY down field, so yes, revenge will be sweet for Chi.

As far as the Eagle's D, I'm not too sure, anyone else know?  Even though the Broncos have Dawkins, their D is still a complete mess.

Hopefully they get somebody other than Hester to catch the ball.  That offense is Cutler and a bunch of pylons.

The bigger loss to the Eagles defense is Jim Johnson, their defensive coordinator.  His death is a huge loss both emotionally and professionally.

Well I'm getting ready to watch the first game of the TO era in Buffalo.  I'm still not sure what to think of all this.

If that first series with the fake punt is any indication, should be a good season!

D Average, I look forward to bickering with you in this thread about our competing teams (Bears and Packers), and also to the Vikings hopefully imploding.

Here's to the Week 1 Game!

That punt in the Bills game should be against the rules as it is a blatant loop hole.

Just look at the quarterback feet first slide rule.  If he goes into a slide in this nature, players can't hit him.  As a result, if it even looks like he is doing a slide like that, he is down at that point.

Players can not hit a punter when he is in his kicking motion. Therefore if he fakes a kicking motion while still having the ball, the ball should be down at that point.

While it was a nifty play, it is against the spirit of the rules regarding how a kicker should be protected.

Also, why on earth did they blow that play open in the preseason?

Scored some FREE box seats to the Bears v Broncos game tonight!  Man o man was it awesome to see Cutler and the Bears stomp all over McDonald's new team.  As expected the entire stadium booed Cutler like the most jaded of lovers.  The stadium was literally shaking for every snap of his.  But while Mickey D's new QB left the 2nd quarter with no TD's and a cut finger, Cutler and Co stomped all over the Broncos after a nervous few serious.  It really couldn't have gone much worse for the new coach.

It really cracks me up.  The vast majority of Denverites are clearly deluded about their new team, while the national media sees them for what they really are.  Far below average.  They really believe that Micky D's new "system" is enough to win the a SB, "it doesn't matter how good the QB is".  Well, lets think about this for a second.  When McDaniels had a franchise QB in 2007 with Tom Brady, they went undefeated and went to the SB.  The following year, they lost Brady and had an above average QB using the same "system" but failed to make the playoffs.  Yet somehow in Denver, with a less talented QB, a defense still in shambles, and their last star ready to walk out, this "system" is still going to bring them a title?  Right.  Moral of the story, when you're hired to coach a new team and the former offense was 2nd in the league.  Its probably best to leave it alone and concentrate on fixing the 28th ranked defense.

In short, Go Bears!!

Mangini's not saying anything but everybody in the media is saying that Brady Quinn has pretty much locked up the starting job in Cleveland. This is excellent news, and hopefully we can con somebody into taking that no-talent bum Derek Anderson for somebody decent. This may be the year the Browns pull themselves out of the cellar and attain mediocrity!

That's a realistic goal. I wish the Brownies the best, but they still got a ways to go. Hopefully Mangini can do something.

I would be happy with a little consistency, I want them to have two consecutive non-losing seasons, even if it's just two straight 8-8 finishes. The team hasn't done that since the 1980s.

So we all like football, and we all like games.  Anyone interested in making an NWR fantasy league on NFL.com?  I could set it up.  Even if you're in another league, its always good fun to have a couple others.  Joining is free and we could just have the winner get bragging rights, a Lombardi avatar, or figure out a way to gift them Wii points.  I'm thinking we'll need around 10 people or so to make it interesting.

I'm leaning towards him not.  I wasn't too impressed with his first outing, and wasn't hugely impressed with his last couple years before jail.  As for now, all I see is a Kitty Kat Offense w/ Vick and McNabb.  I hope he does play well though, it'll be entertaining.

You know whose way the preseason went last year? The Detroit Lions, who went a perfect 4-0 in the preseason.

We just fired our offensive co-ordinator, leaving Alex Van Pelt--someone who 2 years ago was a quality control coach, and 4 years ago called the Bills games for local radio--10 days to prepare to match wits against Bill Belichick at Gillette Stadium on Monday night.

The fact that our 7th round rookie CB can't speak English is the least of our problems right now.

Oh man, well put.  Well, I'll be pulling for them this year.  I'd love to see them take the AFC East.

I'd love to see that happen; I really think T.O. has the potential to open up their offense and as someone who has Marshawn Lynch on his fantasy team I'm really hoping it'll happen. Realistically, though, unless Tom Brady's health is an issue, and I don't think it will be, the Patriots are going to run away with that division.

Yes, but most of the season is riding on how the defense is gonna work out.  We've already made the right cut(s) and got a trade.  Saints should be good to go.

I didn't follow the Saints in the off season, but if they made some improvements on D they are a team to watch out for this year.  Their D was the achilles heel last year with that Ferrari of an offense they had.
