I'll summarize:

Quote
Dohta:I remember you asking us at the time: “Look, are you really sure you can make it?" (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:And you said: “We’ll pull out all the stops!” (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Shimamura:You could say that! (laughs)

Quote
Sato:Yes, well… I felt that my expectations may have been a little bit excessive… (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Shimamura:And that’s when we all found ourselves saying: "You can make it stop! You can make it stop!" (laughs)

Quote
Yamashita:We were saying: "Look, you can make it stop at the last second!” (laughs)

Quote
Shimamura:That’s exactly what we thought: “What are we going to do with this?” (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:Licensing an island! (laughs)

Quote
Shimamura:Well, I was really taken aback. In fact, I was at a loss for words! (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:Well, that's not surprising considering you’d just heard someone suggest turning an island into a character and then licensing it out! (laughs)

Quote
Shimamura:Absolutely! (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Yamashita:You could of course also stop the sword just before making the strike! (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Iwata:They made each of the mini-games end within five seconds! (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Yamashita:At first, I really thought it would be impossible, but I knew that if anyone could do something about it, it would be Ota-san. And indeed it turned out that he managed to do something! (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Miyamoto:I’m afraid we can’t reveal just how the magic works! (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:So without knowing how you'd actually go about it, you just went ahead and said "Let’s have 1000 opponents!" (laughs)

Quote
Yamashita:Right. We thought that the more opponents we had, the better! (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Yamashita:Yes, that’s true. (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Iwata:You had already used them all! (laughs)

Quote
Yamashita:Right, we had used them all! (laughs)

Quote
Sato:We would say things like: “This really has that ‘resort feel’!” (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:That phrase “resort feel” really reminds me of the way the team who developed Zelda referred to that “Zelda-esque” quality. (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Iwata:I’m not sure it’s such a good idea to confuse onsen and tropical resorts! (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Iwata:The fact that the developer of the game is able to describe the rallies using terms like that certainly convinces me that you’ve nailed it! (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Iwata:Yes, I did it! (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Miyamoto:Have I really? (laughs)

Quote
Shimamura:(laughs) I can remember that wakeboarding has been a goal of yours for the last ten years and doing an aerial flyover has been a goal for twenty years.

Quote
Yamashita:It’s 3000 points! (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Shimamura:Right after getting back to Japan, he suddenly said: “You know we’re including golf now.” Apparently he’d stated in an interview that this time round golf shots would be determined by the backswing, even though at that time a golf game didn't exist in any shape or form! (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:It’s a trick he often uses! (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Shimamura:That’s because of the “18 Hole Incident”. (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:“The 18 Hole Incident”? Tell us about that! (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:That’s another well-worn technique! (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Miyamoto:We won ourselves some extra time while things were left to stew in the pressure cooker! (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:Read the previous Iwata Asks interview and all will become clear! (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:Fortunately? It certainly wasn’t a fortunate development from a business perspective! (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Iwata:I bet you sounded really happy when you shouted it! (laughs)

Quote
Miyamoto:I really did shout! (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:You think you’re approaching the finish line when someone shouts "You guys got a lucky break!" (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:Taking the feelings of the team working on the game who believe that the finish line is just up ahead into consideration, I don’t know if that can be perceived as being entirely a positive thing! (laughs)

Quote
Yamashita:Well, it’s not something that a member of the team would have said. Of course it was... (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughs)

Quote
Iwata:Now I get it… (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Iwata:(laughs)

Quote
Iwata:That’s one way of saving time! (laughs)

Quote
Yamashita:That’s good to hear! (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:Really? There was more? (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:And that someone was Miyamoto-san once again! (laughs)

Quote
Miyamoto:If you use this chance to get familiar with the island in advance, you’ll enjoy the next game even more! (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:(laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Shimamura:He'll read it and we'll be found out! (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Iwata:I see – “advice”. (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:He doesn’t pull any punches, does he? (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:(laughs)

Quote
Iwata:The dreaded progress report! (laughs)

Quote
Shimamura:“Dreaded” is exactly the right word! (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:He makes you stand? (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Yamashita:Yes, he certainly does. (laughs)

Quote
Iwata:After you “were put through this”… (laughs)

Quote
Shimamura:If you looked at the screen, you could see that he wasn’t able to hold it steady at all. I’d never seen anyone shaking so bad before when playing the game so I said: “You’re shaking!” He replied: ”It’s nerves!” (laughs)

Quote
All:(laughter)

Quote
Iwata:(laughs) So did he get through that nerve-wracking presentation without Miyamoto-san giving him the thumbs down?

They docked lasting appeal for lack of online play but it's 'evergreen' and presumably never gets old?

It has some of the best Wii graphics but doesn't get knocked for lack of HD?

"Good enough" presentation isn't good enough? What do they want, MORE COMPLICATED POINT-AND-CLICK MENUS?

That's different . That was a free game.

This I say grade all the sports individually and the total score is a combination of how all of them are.
Keep in mind how the controls work, and if its something you will come back to or only play a little.

That GameTrailers review did a lot of bitching about depth. All of WSR's games look pretty fun. The only one that doesn't look like it has great staying power is the Waveboard, but I haven't seen enough of it to make a valid judgment.

I'm going to try all the games. It seems that everyone hates cycling , Kayaking is only fun with 4 players and basketball isn't as tight as it should be.

I am mainly going to play Sword play, Airplane, Table tennis and motorboat one. I bought Wave Race Blue Storm as my launch game for GAMECUBE back in the day. I screamed at it but yet I still enjoyed it. I doubt this game has the same amazing and awful ' random water ' that blue storm had.

That Gametrailers review was good, but some of their comments were weird. They kept saying that the sword events were wasted potential because players could end up spamming attacks. Um, if this is something that is controlled by the player why condemn them game for it? The player has all control over their sword attacks and how do they use them. Once again, if the player is in full control why blame the game for a decision the game makes?

As for depth, not to belittle this game, but does anyone expect any depth from Wii Sports? The depth comes from the controls and what the game does with them. The events are basic, stripped down versions of real world events so why expect any big depth?

It's a sequel to a big-name game and it is a stand-alone title this time, that might be why some people expected a bit more from it (I'm not one of these JSYK).

But we got a lot more of it.
Instead of 4 sports we get 12
instead of 1 way to play we get 2-3 ways to play each sport.

For those expecting each minigame in WSR to become full featured games within a bundle don't exactly get why WiiSports is what it is.
They did take the initiative with Golf and fleshed it out to a full 18 hole course, but this collection is more an introduction to M+ and how it can improve on the concepts shown to to you in WiiSports. It up to 3rd parties in most cases to flesh those concepts out into full featured games (apparently with online and all the bells & whistles).

But I do have a question for those that played the game.
Does it still have the Training modes, like the various target practices?

nobody talked about options this games has. I really hate games that don't give you options to play as you wish. That was one of my problems to Wii sports originally. Every game should be like Brawl in the near infinite amount of options to play the game.

what do you mean options?  see it is proper that if you state a problem that you also state your solution as well.  Simply saying like brawl is not enough.   examples, how you would make options in the game WSR and so on.
